The breakfast was simple, without a lot of choices, but freshly prepared and very tasty. The bed was very comfortable and the room, though small, was well thought-out and comfortable as well. The outdoor terraces were particularly nice. The location was perfect, quiet but close to the city center and the waterfront beaches.

The town itself isn't particularly interesting, although it does have some nice options for seafood and urban beach type activities. The main point of it seems to be as a base of operations for either day trips to places of interest in the surrounding area or longer trips into the desert peninsula of La Guajira. Both of which seem easy to arrange.

Riohacha feels more like a stop gap for those headed up to Cabo de la Vela. Its a small town with lots of conveniences, like an airport, a lot of hotels, bus terminal, lots of convenience stores, groceries, pharmacies and banks. The beach is OK, not amazing. it might be possible to swim sometimes but the water doesn't look clear and clean. The people are generally friendly but you must be able to speak some Spanish -as much as the rest of Latin America.. It's a good place to get your bearings and rest or catch up on a little work if you find a place with good wifi. Its nice for cocktails and a romantic stroll down the pier.

I took my daughter to Alta Guajira!
I took my daughter to Alta Guajira! I choose Ecoutour agency. We had a cultural exchange with the Wayuu community. Our drivers (yuglio and Gustavo) were super helpful and made us feel safe at all times. Water is scarce but the rancherías make anything possible to have everything available for the tourists. The crossing to the Alta Guajira is beautiful. We had a great experience and my daughter had an amazing learning experience. It is sad to see so many children begging during the crossing. Our drivers were helpful to teach us how to distribute food so there was enough for everyone.

Riohacha is a rustic, different and interesting city.
Riohacha is a rustic, different and interesting city. The traffic is not crazy like many south american cities. People are friendly and the Wayuu (natives of the region are a very quite gentle people) with very beautiful clothing and crafts to sell at very fair prices) If you are looking for a quite relaxing holiday this is the place. If you are seeking a party location pick somewhere else. If you are interested in nature and a very different Colombian culture you will enjoy Riohacha. It has a very large market where you can purchase just about anything. We spend most of one day there shopping. We expected to see allot of Venezuelan refugees however there were very few. We learned the UN has a processing centre set up near the border where they process Venezuelans fleeing their country. Riohacha holiday location infrastructure appears to be developing and will undoubtably be a major tourist hub within 10 years. If you want to experience a location that is not yet over run with large tourist crowds and the prices that go with it, now is the time to visit Riohacha and area.
The room had an adequate size TV with cable TV with plenty of channels, the hotel staff was mostly friendly (especially the ladies in the kitchen). The breakfasts were of very good taste and size. The bathroom was very clean and everything was in working order. The air conditioning worked very well. The lobby has very nice and comfortable armchairs. The hotel is near an avenue and it's easy to reach the malls and good restaurants nearby.
There are some extraordinary people working here! Friendly and professional team, which in my experience, went the extra mile to ensure I had the best time possible in Riohacha and the wider area.
Also great laundry service, clean room, nice breakfast and overall super safe.
The location is simply fantastic, as only a few minutes walk to the malecón and with various shops and bakeries around the corner.
The staff were excellent Helpful, professional and friendly And our we do have to make a special mention of Robby in the restaurant who continuosly went over and above what anybody could expect Thanks Robby
First impressions of the hotel, spacious clean room, friendly staff Enormous balcony overlooking the beach and fishing boats
The pool area is fantastic
Good location, small rooms, but alright. We didn’t appreciate the owner screaming very (!) loudly at 6.30 am outside the hotel, followed by a comment about how people don’t like how loud he talks. The street-side room has single glass windows and is extremely noisy. All the staff was absolutely great and very helpful
The hotel is new and was exceptionally clean. Noelia in housekeeping did the check-in and she was absolutely the best! She made sure everything went really well and delivered breakfast in the room the next morning. (maybe ask next time what time, 7am was a little early for people on holiday).
it is clean and well located and the staff is kind, professional and efficient. my second time at this hotel and my companion’s first. She loved the view from the rooftop terrace and enjoyed lounging in the hammock up there.
I was here for work and the hotel was perfect for what I needed. Staff was helpful and we communicated over whatsapp for things I needed to arrange, like transport, prior to my arrival.
At the entrance of the hotel there was a mud of mud and mud where after having booked the hotel late at night no taxi could enter and that is why it is my bad rating
