The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the town square (Santander Parque) in Leticia, which was fine to walk in the daylight, but I wouldn't do it late at night. We did end up getting a bit turned around after dark and getting a tuktuk to return us to the hotel! The cabins were clean and spacious with cute decor and a fridge, and the staff was friendly. One of the hotel staff showed us monkeys eating papaya just outside the hotel one morning, which was great. There was always drinking water available and wifi in the lobby area. The breakfast was fine. The best part of the hotel was the beautiful outdoor pool, which was a fantastic way to cool down as we were not used to the heat in the Amazonas.

The location was great, and most of the staff were accommodating. Breakfast was filling, offering eggs, arepas, coffee or chocolate, and fresh juice. We were able to store our bags before and after check-out, which was very helpful.

Just a tip for any working travellers - both phone internet and most internet in most hotels does not work very well! Be warned, Leticia is very isolated and this does indeed support this. Best to plan to enjoy the town instead!

Leticia is a great spot to visit the Amazon forest and areas around the river. There are so many beautiful places around it and plenty of choice for all types of visitors. We didn’t realise it was going to be that hot when we went (August) and we’re not really used that humidity, so that ‘slowed’ us down a bit as we weren’t able to do as much as we originally thought we would. But overall it was a great experience, I would recommend it to anyone! (Just have a lot of mosquito repellent with you at all times)

Awesome! LETICIA is at the heart of the amazons! You can find several tours or reserves to stay in. The biodiversity and the indigenous ethnic diversity is interesting as well as eco educational. A lot to learn from them!!!!

For the gateway city to the Colombian Amazon, I didn't expect to fear for my life when crossing the roads! Leticia collects a tourist tax when you arrive at the airport, but they certainly don't spend any of that money on the roads, they are a disaster.
Compare in contrast to Puerto Nariño, a short boat ride up the Amazon. This town does not allow motorised vehicles and what a difference that makes. If I came back to this area I would stay in Puerto Nariño for sure

I would recommend Leticia as a travel hub/starting point.
I would recommend Leticia as a travel hub/starting point. Nothing special about the town itself apart from the location. Although I recommend the Ethnographic Museum there. But you will get a better view and jungle experience in Puerto Nariño, acessible by boat from Leticia. You can take the commercial boat, it will be a lot cheaper than private. It goes 3 times a day and takes 2h to get to Puerto Nariño. Be careful and research what tours cost, they will try to charge as much as possible 😅 Contact the reserves directly, not through an operator, you will most likely get the experience for half the price. Every indigenous guy there is a guide, pick wisely, a good option is through a reserve directly. Walks and attraction in the near reserves are rather touristy and can be underwhelming. For a deeper jungle experience arrange a multi day jungle walk.
A lot better place to view monkeys is Mocagúa monkey rescue center Fundacion Maikuchigua, they also have artesanal crafts for sale and a local ethnical museum. You can get there with the commercial boat.
Also instead of Flor de Loto, go to Reserva Victoria Regina, the lotuses are also there and you can get an amazing tree tour with info on how the indigenous use them and try some Tarzan moves.
If you want to touch a capybara, go to Isla San Antonio de Cacao on the Peru side, just across the river from Puerto Nariño and ask for that. A walking tour with animal viewing and transport was 180 000 pesos for 2 people roughly 3h.
We were welcomed by the host Rebecca and she really made us feel welcome. She was very friendly. It was a very nice accommodation. The kitchen was fully equipped with cutlery, olive oil, salt, pepper, drinks.. we only spent two nights but if you have a longer stay, this is very convient!
The whole accommodation was very clean and had all comfort needed.
We could even leave our backpacks when we went on a three day jungle tour, so very friendly of them to keep an eye on them.
If ever visiting Leticia again I would defenitly book again!
It is a conveniently located hotel in downtown Leticia, well maintained, clean, and spacious. It has a beautiful pool and a delicious restaurant. Rooms are ample, clean, and well illuminated, offering magnificent views. The staff is friendly and helpful. A travel agency in the lobby offers trips to the surrounding jungle. It is the best option for work or pleasure travel, alone, in a couple or with family. The hotel is located a couple of quarters from the Amazon river port, where jungle trips start.
I stayed for one night following my stay in Puerto Narino as my flight from Leticia was early the next day.
The hostel is very relaxed and is a great place to meet people if you are staying for more than one night.
The hostel offers a number of tours and activities and it was very easy to arrange these once I arrived.
The best thing was the volunteers who were so friendly and helpful throughout.
Casa do Xingu for sure exceeded my expectations. The professor (Juan) and the girls (Juanda & Dora) are really great hosts. With Juan, you can speak multiple foreign languages, discuss many subjects and indeed have a great start on the Amazon journey. In the end, I stayed for a week more than I initially planned and If/when I come back to Leticia, I will for sure go there again.
They are very nice and the accommodation is really comfortable, the room has 2 fans, so you don't feel the heat in the day if you work from here. And, speaking of internet, Leticia has a really bad internet in general, but here they have Starlink, though is not perfect is good enough to have meetings and work with git (pull/push, programmers understand this).
Hotel Chafo is in a quiet location at the end of dead-end street, right at the border with Brazil. It's within walking distance of downtown Leticia and felt safe. Rooms were simple but clean and comfortable. I recommend paying a little extra for the air conditioning. The best thing about it is the owners who were very friendly and helpful.
we traveled as a group of 6 persons in Amazon region, Leticia. The accommodation was great. A lot of nature surrounding the property and we took cabs from to and from town. The staff was great and helped us with every question we had. Area is safe. Breakfast was good.
The place is really nice and cozy. They have hot water and aircon which is a big bonus in Leticia. The breakfast is very good. Staff was very nice and helpful especially Judy. Location is nice. Not too far from the center but in the quiet area. Definitely recommend.
The staff, location and pool are fine, Mrs Lucia is a great person so kind, the transportation between the airport and hotel it's include, the bedroom with private bathroom and comfortable, this hotel is beautiful 👍
Nice, clean and quite place and the hotel has I think now the fastest internet in town.
If you need informations you can ask Natalia or Xavier, both are very helpful.
Its the place to be in Leticia!
Great value for money. Hotel installations are new, TV and A/C too.
Leticia great hotel outside busy town center.
Friendly staff who pick us up from the airport and help us in Leticia.
The pool was nice to cool down on a hot day. Aircon worked pretty well.
The lady at the breakfast was very nice ☺️
The restaurant neext to the hotel is great. Very very good food
The lodges are actually in the jungle and the atmosphere is very nice and wild. They are quite far from Leticia, but you can reach them by public bus in less than 30 minutes
