The chef is passionate about quality Japanese cuisine. I recommend enjoying a meal there even if you don't stay in the hotel, which is quirky but clean and comfortable. You can also get a very hearty breakfast to start the day with. Wonderful hospitality.

Located in the historical Shibu Onsen district, 渋温泉小石屋旅館 offers both private and dormitory-style guest rooms as well as an on-site restaurant where local dishes, wines and craft beers are available. The staff were so nice. The free shuttle to the snow monkeys. Good coffee.

Hotel Fuki no Mori is a 20-minute ride from JR Nagiso Train Station on the hotel’s free shuttle. Guests can enjoy walks at the garden or the scenic areas surrounding the hotel. A beautiful luxury hotel set in forest outside Tsumago, with hotel shuttle bus access. Everything was perfect- from the warm welcome, being conducted to our room, shown the onsen and dining room, where breakfast and dinner were exceptional (in Keisei style and well worth the additional charge). It was a most relaxing stay after our Magome to Tsumago walk- 6 hours in drenching rain- but still very beautiful to be again on this marvellous walk.

A 7-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Yorozuya features hot spring baths, a hot tub and Japanese-style rooms with a private terrace and private bathroom. A true ryokan experience with an exceptional food service. This heritage building is well-kept, dignified, and an absolute delight. There was no need to leave the building to have a satisfying bath—indoor or outdoor. I loved the private bath, and the overall tradition of the ryokan. The staff was so accommodating of our late check-in, took care to deliver our luggage to the station while we go to the Snow Monkey Park, and were attentive to our needs.

Situated just a 5-minute walk from historic Togakushi Shrine, Oshi Ryokan is traditional lodging accommodation in the peaceful mountain area, which used to cater for pilgrims. The warm hospitality conveyed by Oshi san and wife, delicious and priceless home cooked meals and the serenity of the surroundings. its basically a quaint village up the mountainside. Even the soba shops in the area serve food from the heart - the quality and quantity of ingredients served is way different from the towns!

Only a 10-minute drive from Snow Monkey Park, Yudanaka Onsen Yamazakiya offers simple Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi. We really enjoyed experience: Very friendly and helpful host, speaking English the excellent food at breakfast and dinner, variety of vegetable/fish and very nice presentation, excellent in quality and quantity, a joy for the eyes and the body. Nice interior of the room and hotel, quiet at night Onsen inside the hotel, by booking your time. This was fantastic as we could enjoy the experience as a private onsen, highly appreciated. A 3-minute walk from Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort, Kadowakikan features ski-to-door access, a hot spring bath and free WiFi. Mr. Kadowakikan was super friendly and helpful. He picked us up and dropped us off at the shuttle bus stop. He helped us order rental ski/snowboard equipment to the hotel. The hotel's own onsen was very clean and more comfortable than the town's free onsens.

A 5-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Tawaraya offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. The staff was outstanding. They were kind, helpful, and in every way what one can hope for at a Ryokan.
