Nagiso
The spacious rooms at Fuki no Mori Hotel come with private bathrooms with free toiletries. All rooms have traditional decors, a seating area and a balcony with views. Most rooms have tatami (woven-straw) flooring with futon bedding. Honestly, everything was perfect. The staff, the room, the view, the lounge, the onsen, the shuttle, and even the small details like the complimentary Japanese delicacies in the room. This is probably the best place I've ever stayed in. It cost more than I usually pay as a solo traveler, but I decided to splurge since there were no other places in Tsumago available. It was worth every penny and I would go back in a heartbeat 💜

They come with traditional futon bedding and yukata robes, while bathroom facilities are shared. The location was excellent, close to the free shuttle bus pick up point to Nagasaka and a mere 6 min walk from the Shinden bus stop. The owner was super helpful and kind, going out of his way to help ensure that my stay was great. He offered a ride from the Shinden bus stop on arrival, and constantly checked on whether I needed anything else. He also readily provided information of the area, and provided guidance of where to eat around the hotel. The room was really clean and comfortable, and it was a really big room. A different snack is given daily too. Overall it was an excellent stay, and I would be happy to return again, if I can get a booking.

The outdoor onsen was very good, and you could book a private slot which is especially great if you are shy!
The staff were very patient and kind, and they look after you very well. I highly recommend booking a dinner, and the breakfast is also very good.
Being close to the station was also particularly helpful when starting my day, especially as it was a pickup point for my snow monkey tour.

Great little place to stay for a night (or longer). We had a Family Bungalow for 4 of us, but can take 6. There is a large room downstairs with kitchen, dining table, sofa, TV etc. Shower and toilet are also downstairs. Upstairs is a large tatami mat area with up to 6 futons. Warm, clean and comfortable.
A really nice ryokan in Shibu onsen center! The staff was really nice and they speak english! It is on the main road were the 9 onsens are. There is also a bar/restaurant in the ryokan, we had dinner there !
Attentive staff, magnificent garden, panoramic view, memorable food, good introduction to a traditional ryokan. Easy-to-use onsen facilities.
Very traditional Ryokan in a genuine onsen hot spring town. The hosts go above and beyond and are ever so friendly. Larger than the average Japanese room and also very comfortable beds ( much as we like the traditional mats it was good to have a break )
The staff were superbly friendly while retaining the unique traditional ryokan atmosphere. The onsens were beautiful and entirely peaceful. Both the guest rooms and the dining rooms were beautiful tatami rooms that when paired with the yukatas really made you feel the atmosphere at its most. The shuttle bus service to the snow monkey park and train station was also incredibly helpful!
Nice village, good Onsen within the Ryokan and it was fun running the streets in Yukata to test the 9 public baths. Was surprised by the tunnel that leads underneath to the second bath in the hotel and to the bar. The room had a kerosene heater, very convenient.
The owners were very lovely and did their best to accommodate us, picked us up from the station. It was a very nice experience to stay in traditional japanese ryokan, room was like from another era, had a tea set and futons, but there were also ac, humidifier and fridge. We used an onsen, had yukatas, it was all very comfortable
an authentic Japanese hotel, traditional experience, futons, tatami matting. free shuttle service, friendly staff, private onsen.
