Staff were so friendly and helpful! Gave us tips for exploring penang island and getting a scooter. Also every morning there were a different snack everyday and loads of other snacks/fruit. We were also upgraded to family room which was very nice and huge! Cats were also a lovely pressence

We would have welcomed AC in the shared space, as there was a heatwave during our visit.

Breakfast was amazing. Each morning Howie picked up a selection of dishes from local stalls for us to try. They were all delicious, and gave us the confidence to try more adventurous foods when eating out in Penang. This was in addition to the toast and cereal already provided.

This is an exceptional & quirky hostel to stay. The care and love that Arthur and Howie put into this place is unparalleled, and in our 3 month through South East Asia, this place came closest to home. Free breakfast every morning so guests can try different Malaysian delicacies and a WhatsApp group with lots of tips and where questions are answered instantly. Shared bathrooms were always clean. The cat who sleeps in the funniest places around the house is guaranteed to make you laugh!

The wifi was unreliable in my room but worked well enough in the common area.

Especially because of the friendly, helpful staff and the mature, amicable guests, this was a great stay! The facilities are old but well cared for. It was clean, comfortable & everything worked including the vital a/c. Surprisingly, I never had to wait for a bathroom, shower or sink. Breakfast was excellent & plentiful.

Perfect location in the heart of Little India. Brilliant public transport all around the island. Howie and Arthur were perfect hosts, providing different breakfasts every day and excellent advice. Great value for money.

Absolutely zero social space or socializing. The pictures are very misleading - they must have set up a table outside for a gathering one night, but that doesn't exist most of the time and there is nowhere in the hostel to meet and talk.

The hosts are very nice, they offer information, suggestions for things to do, and tasty local treats every day. The hostel is small but basically clean. Wifi and air conditioning worked well. Location is excellent.

The location was perfect if you love Indian food! Little India is full of character and everybody is so hospitable. The staff were by far he best part of the stay, all were very helpful with every aspect of our stay. We were given all tips and tricks on how to make the stay the best! You will just have to book and find them out for yourself!

We LOVED this hostel - cant recommend enough! It is in an authentic heritage house which means its a tiny bit worn around the edges but thats all part of it! The staff were amazing, so helpful with recommendations, booking busses ect. Every morning there is toast, jam, milk, all different kinds of teas and coffees, fruit and biscuits! And then even some freshly cooked Malay and Indian dishes for you to try - we woke up the first morning to hot porridge ready for us😍! Theres also hot & cold water, toaster, microwave ect if you wanted to cook basic meals for yourself. The cats are also super cute and friendly. The rooms are comfy and clean. The showers are warm! It is located in little India which is centre of town and amazing if you love Indian food! 100% book this place!

Amazing! We had the best stay at cocoa mews, made perfect by Howie and his team. They provided the most amazing breakfasts every day with different treats and tastes from the area. We felt very comfortable in the homestay - felt like we were home!

I think the only thing that could be improved is the toilet rooms could do with a deeper clean.

The hosts Howie and Arthur were lovely and SO accommodating. I have never felt so welcome at a hostel and felt included so quickly. We were put in a group chat instantly and updated with all the best places to visit and any events going on in the local area. The best hosts!!

This is my favorite place I've stayed at so far. The guesthouse is very homey and the staff make you feel like family but aren't too much in your face. The cats are the cherry on top of the cake, making me feel 100% at home.

This was my favourite stay in South East Asia. It's a perfect model for backpackers looking to have the social hostel/Homestay experience, but without the younger party crowd. We were made to feel extremely welcome from the moment we arrived, and the staff have made a group chat where they regularly post information about food, drinks, events, tours, and anything else you might want. They bought breakfast from local markets every day for us to try, and sent us information on each dish. The Homestay is located in the centre of Little India so it's surrounded by amazing restaurants but tucked away from the noise so you can have a peaceful night's sleep. It's also walking distance from lots of good tourist spots. Other guests are friendly and respectful. There are two beautiful cats who love being fussed. I would stay here again without a doubt. Thank you to Arthur, Amit and Howie for making our time in Penang so special.

Just for say something, the AC didn't work very well but when you turn on the fan, is enough to sleep well.

We felt in love with this place, after travelling around Asia for 4 months is amazing feel like you have a piece of home far from your country, all the staff is so kind and friendly, they explaining everything that you need about the facilities, the house' rules, best plans to do in the city. The room was huge with our own terrace, and the shared bathroom/shower is enough for all the guests, always clean and include soap and shampoo. The booking supossed to not include breakfast but they offer cold water, free bread, peanut butter, jam, biscuits, and other tasty things for free, that kind of details is what you will get staying here. Thank you all staff for make us fell like home.
