The general bath area is quite lacking for a ryokan. But the private bath areas are great. Everything is great except the general bath area.

We like the welcoming receptionist and the reception area. All the staff were friendly. We loved the dinner and breakfast by the river. We loved the private onsen.

4 great onsen. The staff was very friendly and explained how the various dishes are to be eaten or prepared when asked).

It would have been more convenient if the outdoor onsens had their own bathing area instead of having to use the public bathing area and then walking some distance to the outdoor baths.

The meals were exquisite. Whether raining or sunny, the riverside dining was a beautiful experience. We appreciated that there were staff who could speak English and they helped us book an activity in Otsuki as well. We were also touched by Mr Yamada (the owner) who helped us take our luggage to the car in the rain and brought us umbrellas. So friendly and kind!

The service, the onsen and the dinner and breakfast were all fantastic. The restaurant is situated right next to the river which gives it a lot of charm. You also get to eat under a kotatsu which makes it a great experience.

The private onsen need to state the opening hours clearly.

Very good environment although is a bit far from public transport. The kaiseki dinner food is do good that really indulge in it. Definitely will come back.

Location is a bit off the track. All good but if you take bus there and the weather isn’t great, you might end up eating chips for lunch cuz there is no coffee shop near by. And they don’t offer lunch option

Amazing local food. One of the best we have had. I can’t eat raw food and the cooked version is just as amazing. Rooms are very comfortably. Ryokans have a system where u can check if they are availability for private use. The public ones are ok very basic.

In the morning only 2 of the 4 private onsens are open, so it wasn't always seamless to enjoy the onsen in the morning.

Spacious room. Western style beds were quite comfortable. Loved hearing the river run with the window open at night. Excellent dinner experience -- worth trying! Pretty easy to use the private onsens.

everything was excellent!

one of the most relaxing experiences in japan! the ryokan is in the historic izu area where there are many onsen ryokans scattered throughout the peninsula including atami. this area is inland surrounded by nature - forests + waterfalls + gorges, etc. the ryokan staff are all beyond hospitalable and helpful. will be back next year!

Beautiful surrounding, right next to a river. 4 private onsen to choose from, scan QR code to check availability. Breakfast was great, eating next to the river was a cool experience. Large and clean room.

A bit difficult to get to for 1st timers, but not impossible and very much worth the adventure.

Great onsen and incredible workers who spoke very great English. There weren’t many people so we got to try all the onsen even though we only stayed one night. QR scanner to see availability of onsen was incredibly helpful and much appreciated. I assure you the food is nothing like you have ever had before, absolutely delicious! Felt like we were able to have our own little slice of Japan all to ourself and was truly a magical experience.

Lack of the option of a well for legs while dining.

The private hot springs bath for two and the amazing meals out by the water, plus the comfortable chairs in our room looking outside to the mountains. Also the comfortable Japanese clothes to wear.

The only negative is it is a bit of distance from train station, so it will cost a bit for a taxi

The onset in the room is a great way to end the night. The place is amazing! If you want to get a true authentic Japanese experience, then book this place! Being next to the river is such a pleasure to fall asleep. breakfast and dinner next to the river is amazing

The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, the hot springs were relaxing, and the food was amazing. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast and dinner location by the river, making for a wonderful experience (not to mention some of the coldest beers I've ever had!).
