How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The room could be a bit larger (esp travelers with large luggages).
The hotel is conveniently located just in front of the main station (even with direct access!!). The staff is helpful, rooms are clean and nice. Excellent traditional Japanese breakfast. Very nice rooftop pool (heated), great at night.

The room was lovely and beautifully appointed. It was also so clean. The hotel amenities were great and there was a lovely rooftop pool area, bar and restaurant. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The location is superb, right near Hakata Train Station which was so convenient for getting around Fukuoka.

They offer American and Japanese breakfast. The Japanese breakfast was excellent. One can get more than one drink; eg a juice as well as tea/coffee.

Tedious check in experience. I can understand that the hotel wants to discourage guests from crowding the lobby prior to check in time. So they’ve stationed staff on the first floor to simply ask guests to come back later. Sadly these staff cannot speak English. I wanted to be sure that my luggage and parcels had arrived as I forwarded them. But despite explaining twice, the staff could not understand me. All the wanted was for me to leave and come back at 3pm. I insisted to get up to the reception and make my inquiry there. But was also met with difficulty as the female staff could not speak English. Repeated twice and she even asked me to come back later, claiming my luggage has not arrived when I told her my air tag has already confirmed it has ARRIVED TWO DAYS AGO. only upon my insistence that my luggage is in the hotel did she attempt to locate it. And she actually located my luggage and parcels. But it took so much insistence before she went to locate them and bring them to me. The hotel is new, with great amenities and perfect location. But the entire experience was marred by the horrendous check in experience by staff that simply refused to listen to the request.
Perfect location, large rooms and amazing onsen.

A more comfortable bed
Well located for most purposes. Very happy with the room given by the hotel, booked through Booking.com. My other bookings ( in other countries as well) via Booking.com, rooms given by hotel seemed to be at inferior locations within the property. Hopefully, in all my future stay thro Booking.com, I can have hotel allocated rooms as good as at Miyako's. In all my travels, I booked hotels only thro Booking.com

Miyako Hotel Hakata's location was great. Once your step out of Hakata Station at L1, Chikushi Gate which is the East, you will see the hotel directing in front of you. However you may also enter via B1, somehow found it to be a roundabout way. But it is linked to the subway and JR stations. The breakfast was served on the 13th floor which is the top floor. There are 2 breakfast sets every morning either American or Japanese. I find the omelette in the American set too much for me. I like the Japanese set better, although it means I was eating rice every morning but the food was just right for me. There were also fruit juices, coffee and tea but everything is prepared only when you are there so the food was warm to my liking. It is not buffet-style. It is all served as a set to your table. Also both indoor and outdoor onsen are on the 13th floor but not visible when you go for your breakfast.

I would like better breakfast options. They only had a choice of western or Japanese breakfast set which becomes tiring after 3 days. I would prefer a buffet breakfast with more choices.

I like when hotel's have a laundry room, which I think they didn't. There's the laundry service, but that's a lot pricier, as usual. We were disappointed when we wanted room service, but it closed by 9 or 10pm. and didn't have a huge range on the menu. BUT both very minor issues, just fyi, we still loved the place.
Location is great! The train station is just on the basement floor and connected to a major station. Convenient stores nearby too, and a few nice restaurants. LOVED the heated outdoor pool/spa and overall just a comfy and clean hotel.
