Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndonesiaThe room was tiny!! Like absolutely tiny. We, as a family of 4 stayed for 3 nights and traveled only with hand luggage, I could definitely not have stayed longer - there was no space to put down clothes neither turn around. Charging for early check in if the room is available and it isn’t for a higher room category is always a turn off! Especially if you check in an exhausted family with little kids who are tired from an overnight flight… that’s my ex hotel professional opinion!
The location was great, the food good, the staff very friendly and helpful

AustraliaThe room and bathroom was very small (even more so for Japanese hotel room standards). Paid extra for twin room as I was staying with a friend, but the beds were pushed together to save room - might as well have saved money and paid for the double bed option.
Great location in Tokyo - close proximity to restaurants and trains. The room was clean and well presented. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The top floor bathhouse was a highlight and highly recommended.

AustraliaThe rooms are so tiny, that there is nowhere to put your suitcase, so I had to sacrifice the desk area to put my large suitcase on. The other small case had to go underneath. I had a double room (two king singles pushed together) and there is very little space to walk around. Apparently, this is normal in Japan, unless you are staying in a 5 star chain hotel.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The location was fantastic, plenty of places to eat and bars nearby as well as the train station. I stayed for 10 nights, and the room was tidied every day. Free espresso downstairs.

ChinaThe majority of places to eat and drink in the immediate area are fried foods and bars. Very lively at night. During the evening, I kept my window closed because of the commotion and smell of fried foods wafting into my room. I had to use my ac instead to get some airflow in the room. During the day it was no problem though.
I loved the decoration of the room. Very comfortable. The laundry facilities are well maintained. The staff is very nice. The hotel is in a convenient location, close to the subway and many places to eat, drink and shop.

United KingdomHotel had a lingering unpleasant smell even in the lobby! Room very small for the price considering other hotels we stayed in during this trip. Basics missing such as a hairdryer.
Bed was western style so soft and comfy! Hotel located close to local station.

Great location, friendly staff, breakfast was exceptional value. Hotel was very clean and looked recently renovated. The bathroom in the room is small but very good. Shower head was up high so we could easily wash our hair. Bath was deep and nice.

South AfricaI didn’t quite enjoy the breakfast, granted it was not continental and more traditional
I enjoyed the convenience to the trains. Sento, or public baths were an exceptional way to relax after walking more steps than ever in my life. Akasaka is the perfect neighbourhood, not too congested with tourists, laidback and the bed was the perfect size!

The room is really nice, I really enjoyed my stay there! It is a Japanese hotel room so for anybody from America just know the room isn’t huge compared to the states

AustraliaVery, very small room. But to be honest, I've lived in even smaller rooms in Tokyo before. If you are a couple, expect to concede some luggage space to the better half...
Really fantastic hotel for first-timers in Tokyo. Easily one of the best locations in Tokyo - Akasaka has it all, and very easy to get around! The best thing about HOTEL HILLARYS is the top floor Onsen and Sauna! They also allow tattooed people in it. Every morning after a big night in Tokyo, just jump in the onsen and sweat yourself into a new day!

TaiwanWhen the AC's temperature is set high, the air it blows out is unpleasant. Additionally, the air purifier doesn't seem to work or improve the air quality; its cap is very loose and easily falls off.
I like the location, which is close to the subway stations. The hot spa is wonderful after a long hour of exploring the city. In addition, all the staff I met were professional, welcoming, and helpful!

ChileThe location was in a neighborhood with lots of night life, and pubs. Not sure, but it did seem like the red light district. There are a lot of people offering things and to enter their place on the streets. We didn’t notice from the hotel pictures, but the wash basin is inside the room, and the toilet area is an almost see through door. I wouldn’t come back to this hotel again, as it is too small, unfriendly and unhelpful staff, and with too many nightlife around.
This might be one of the few hotels that cleans your room and make the beds daily.
