Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaIf I am being picky, there could have been more common toilets on my floor. Hard to find negatives, though!
From when I walked in to when I left, I enjoyed my stay there. The hostel was in a nice location, right on the Village and easy to get to the subway, bus stops, coffee shops, restaurants, etc. I stayed in a 12-person dorm and was worried it would be too crowded, but it's a well utilized setup where you only really see 4-6 beds at a time. Privacy curtains and lots of shelf space make it easy to bunker up.

CanadaAlthough the hostel is located in downtown Montreal and within a 5-10 minute walk to the metro/subway, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy with a lot of homeless people. It is however, a convenient location with lots of cafes and restaurants but as a woman, I am not sure I would feel safe walking by myself at night. No issues with safety during the day! The person who checked us in was friendly and accommodating. He allowed us to check in early which was very kind of him. The toiletries provided were a bit skimpy. Each person was given a bag containing a bath and hand towel, a very small bar of soap and one tiny bottle of shampoo. This would be sufficient if you’re staying at the hostel but if you book the more expensive private suite, more toiletries should be made available. The room also did not come with a hair dryer, you had to borrow one at the reception. I can understand how hair dryer theft may be prevalent in the hostel, but it should be included in the private suites. Hotel parking is very limited so we had to park at another garage about an 8 minute walk from the hotel. This is not a problem but the hotel failed to inform us that we needed to pay for our parking with a credit before exiting the garage because the entry door is only accessible for those who pay in advance with a credit card. Many of us found ourselves standing anxiously in front of the garage bay doors, waiting for a car to go in or out because this was the only way we could get back into the garage. But on the brighter side, it was a pretty secure place to park your car overnight for a few days.
We reserved the double king private suite with a kitchenette. It was very spacious, clean, modern and comfortable. The kitchenette is equipped with almost everything that you need except a proper coffee maker. They had a pod coffee machine but only provided espresso/cappuccino pods that required milk in order for it to work. Unfortunately, they didn’t leave any milk in the fridge. We had to purchase coffee every morning. The beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept well. The private suites are located in a quiet, second building with easy access to a lovely rooftop deck/patio with hot tubs. The M Montreal is a very clean hostel/hotel with lots of amenities on site; but it is on the pricey side. It could be an amazing destination if they could tweak a few things.

CanadaJaccuzi's aren't available some mornings due to cleaning, also would be good if they can include mini locks and soap, shampoo for hostels. Paid breakfast at cafeteria isn't the healthiest with tons of sugar :)
Great clean facilities, friendly and helpful staff, good travellers, plenty of restrooms/showers, laundry available , jacuzzi on rooftops is an amazing addition

United KingdomAn extra cost for safeguarding that I did not understand. It was confirmed to be refundable. I just wrote to the receptionists enquiring about further clarification.
As a female guest with a specific religious background and ethics, I felt overwhelmed. The bathroom was in the room I did not have to queue or mix with males.

GuadeloupeMostly, the bedroom’s door are quite heavy, there is no way you can silently leave. If your roommates are not considerate (aka slamming the door between 4-5 am) The lockers door do make a strident noise too.
The location is great, Berri Uqam, is a great spot to move around the city easily. The cleanliness of the room & bathroom everyday. That’s really positive. The lobby is quite nice & the staff is super friendly, polite & smiling.

United States of AmericaThe description says soundproof rooms, which is a bit of an exaggeration- we could hear other guests in the hall. People above us (on the roof as we were on the 4th floor) and some traffic. Still the curfew seemed to be followed so there were no loud guests late night. And so it was standard hotel noise. The listing also says free coffee and tea in the lobby- which is no longer offered as they have a cafe to purchase from. A large cafe americano was $5. I asked for a refill of the coffee cartridges for the instant coffee machine in our room but was told you only get 2 regular and 2 decaf every 3 days if you want more you have to pay for them. What I was paying for the room I wasn’t going to pay for a instant coffee cup. Minor annoyances-but both could be resolved by updating the listing.
What a treat to find this place. I got the king bed suite for me and my daughter for a long weekend - space we never would have found in a traditional hotel room. Having the sofa, kitchen etc was great. We loved the hot tub on the roof too!

GermanyA lamp fell down during the night, so I switched the bed. Upper shelf was really uncomfortable. You have much less space above, and the ladder is not ergonomic - the upper stair is too far above, and the lower as well. The toilet paper is hard to use. To access your room, you have to go through a building, then again through a street - why couldn't you open the exit gate for entrance? The kitchen lacks salt, sugar and oil - the basics the people traveling do not usually have.
A friendly staff, a very cosy bed (lower shelf), clean and warm, comfortable and clean kitchen. It is quiet in the night. A really great stay for its price. The hostel has its own identity.
