We had such a great time with Mario and Julia, and our stay at Isla Taquile wouldn't have been nearly as good without their company. Mario greeted us at the port when we arrived, and later in the day showed us around the island, explaining about inca ruins and answering all our questions about the culture and lifestyle of the people living on the island. Our room was clean and comfortable with many blankets, a table and chairs, and electric outlets (although Mario said only some of the rooms have this as of today). The shower was hot and Julia cooked us delicious food for dinner (additional cost) and breakfast (included in the booking). We also got to see a weaving demonstration by Julia, and bought some beautiful homemade textile crafts from them. There was spotty Entel reception on some parts of the island, but not in the village/accommodation; apparently Bitel works better on the island, but we didn't try it ourselves. We drank the water from the tank at their place with no issue, but they have boiled drinking water for guests if needed. I'd say some knowledge of Spanish is an advantage to get the most out of a stay here, as Mario and Julia speak Spanish and Quechua but not English. All in all an excellent way to get to experience the island and its culture!

Very warm welcome from Juana and Celso. Nice and cosy place to stay and chill. Celso will guide you to the best spots of taquile island from Pachamama temple, inca ruins, best sunset spot, to playa. They are great host with big heart. I truly recommend staying with them. They will tell you everything about island history, tradition, and more! Just remember not taking all your luggage with you ...cause the island is hilly and the hike can be a bit challenging with heavy bags.

Lucrecia et sa filles ont été très accueillantes et à nos petits soins. Nous avons très bien mangé et savoir que la plupart des aliments que nous consommons proviennent de leur jardin et de leur travail donnent une saveur encore meilleure. La chambre (vue magnifique sur le lac) et les locaux étaient très propres et suffisants. Il faut simplement prendre en compte que c’est une pension complète qui impliquent des suppléments pour les repas préparés par Lucrecia (25 soles midi, 15 soles soir), qui en valent pleinement le coup.

Amazing view of the lake, especially at sunrise. Great food with most ingredients coming from their own garden or friends and family on the island. And most importantly the hosts are just the most amazing family, always friendly and with love in their eyes. Also they're really good at communicating with people like me that speak only un poquito español. The position of the place on Google maps is off by 200m or so which can make it hard to find, so in case they haven't fixed it yet, here's the correct coordinates: 15°40'10.4"S 69°42'24.7"W
