The hotel seems very new with tasteful decorations. The lobby floor has an eye-catching atrium and a small observation deck. My room felt airy and with decent space. A few days before arrival I received an email with detailed instructions on how to get to the hotel lobby from the JR station. Staff were polite and helpful.

Open from September 2019, only 150 metres from JR Hakata Train Station, Miyako Hotel Hakata offers stylish rooms with a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom. Unlike the Miyako in Kyoto, this 208-room property is not associated with Westin/Marriott. The hotel is relatively new, around four years old when writing this. We picked the Miyako Hotel Hakata for its excellent location right adjacent to the Hakata train station. The reception is on the third floor. The staff is friendly and professional, and the rooms are excellent - very spacious and bright. Fully equipped with any amenities you might need and with fantastic beds and pillows. The lights, curtains and drapes are controlled by a tablet on a bedside table. The hotel features a lovely outdoor pool on the top floor amd also has a good restaurant for breakfast and dinner. We tried the ten course dinner and it was very good. When in Fukuoka we will pick the Miyako again. One of the top hotels we have stayed at during our many hotel nights in Japan. Lovely place about a 10-15 minute walk from the train station. We were there on 2 cold days in March but our room was warm with a heater and electric blankets. Very comfortable beds and an onsen in the room. We had a beautiful view out our window and in nice weather it would be lovely to sit outside but not on this visit. You eat downstairs in a pleasant dining room. The 2 dinners were fabulous and well prepared but we couldn't eat much of the breakfast (it was all Japanese), other guests loved it. But on the second day the cooks made us a delicious breakfast that kept us going all day. The owner is very helpful, he cares a lot about his guests, he's still working on the place and it will be really nice when it's done.

Kitakyushun nähtävyys oli Kokuran linna lyhyen kävelymatkan päässä hotellista. Hintataso Kitakyushussa ole selvästi Fukuokaa edullisempi. Ostosmahdollisuuksia oli yllin kyllin. Hotellin yhteydessä oli useita ruokapaikkoja, joita käytimme.

I went to Fukuoka to practice karate there but I fell in love with the beautiful city! I loved the sea and easy subway system (only few lines so it's easy to navigate). Also a short distance from other parts of Kyushu by train. Shopping in different malls was great and Canal City was very interesting place to visit. Tenmangu's Shrine is a must visit and tonkotsu raamen was delicious. Definitely will visit again!
