Situated in Mengibar, 26 km from Jaén Train Station, HOTEL PALACIO DE MENGIBAR features accommodation with a garden, private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Everything. The place is more than just a hotel, it's an experience. Great for relaxation. The looks outside, the looks inside, the comfort, big modern bathroom, cleaniness.. they kept the medieval style but merged it with modern comfort. On top of that dinner and breakfast in that amazing dining room, cosy balcony looking out the yard, the views of sunset from the hotel, and two rooftop terraces with both sunrise and sunset views, where we could hang out after the checkout. And then, the spa, with water beds, a lot of bubbles in different directions, and a Finnish sauna. They also offer massages. The prices for all those extras were fair. The small town was pleasant, the hotel being the focus point. A lot of streets that are going steeply up and down.

Makikita sa mabundok na kanayunan ng Andalusia at napapalibutan ng kagubatan at may malawak na outdoor pool at pribadong lawa, ang rustic retreat na ito ay isang perpektong country getaway. If you want to get away close to nature then this is a good spot. It has a Hunting lodge style with a good restaurant and bar beside a large veranda where you can watch the scenery, have a glass of wine and listen to nature. Rooms are rustic and comfortable. We had a small balcony to let us sit and watch over the valley. Staff are all very nice and cheerful. We had a half board package at a very reasonable price. The menu selection was good as was the food. Portions were very generous. There's a pack of tame geese to provide some entertainment and amusement when they go on parade around the artificial lake. You can travel to local nature spots but we just went on the local walk along the bank of the Guadalquivir. We saw some deer, jays, nutthatch, crossbills and terrapins. We could hear green woodpeckers calling but didn't get a glimpse. We only stayed two nights but there seems to be plenty to see for a longer trip. The views on the drive from Cordoba were pretty spectacular. It's a typical mountain drive with a good surface but a winding road with a long climb. The parking there is fine. We didn't use the pool but it looked good. The drive North along the river towards Murcia is pleasant also. So a very enjoyable stopover.

On top of the Santa Catalina hill, this 18th-century castle has been beautifully renovated keeping its huge stone walls and many historical features to make for an authentic stay in Jaén. It was an amazing experience to stay at the Parador. The history of the building and its commanding position overlooking the city of Jaen is magnificent. The common space of the hotel are huge high ceilinged sitting room, an awe inspiring and an amazing place to catch up on work or study. The view from the balcony is beautiful, facing away from the city into the nearby mountains. The beds were comfortable and clean, and the bathroom well appointed. It was such an amazing place to be, you almost did not want to go into town, even though Jaen has so much to offer the visitor.
