This hotel has rooms all around a central court yard. The restaurant is in the court yard and there are beautiful plants which attract birds and give an overall look of freshness. The restaurant has powerful fans which help with the heat. Our room had an aircon, which is rare for Villavieja and Tatacoa. The beds were comfortable and although there is only cold water, it was no problem because of the heat in this area. The breakfast consisted of fruit juice, toast and eggs made to order, and coffee. It was nice and more than enough. We had lunch once and dinner twice at the hotel's restaurant and the food was delicious. We also had very good cocktails. The restaurant is open all day till 10 pm. They also have an ice cream fridge where you can buy different delicious ice creams any time of day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and some of them do speak English. We asked them to arrange our transport from Neiva airport to the hotel and to arrange a tuk tuk and guide to take us to the Grey dessert and Red dessert the day after our arrival (our only full day in Villavieja). Yeison Medina waited for us at the airport when we arrived late on a Sunday night and transported us to the hotel. He also happened to be our guide for the dessert trips. He is a professional guide at the observatory as well and he was very knowledgeable about the geology, the history and the fauna and flora of the dessert. He spoke English well enough, he was very funny and full of jokes and we had a wonderful day with him. He was also a magician with a cell phone and took very creative photos of us in the dessert. We will remember him every time we look at our holiday photos. Hotel Villavieja is definitely the obvious choice if you plan to visit the Tatacoa dessert. Don't bother to find a tuk tuk on the square or anywhere else for dessert tours, just ask the hotel to arrange it for you and hope that Yeison Medina is your guide.

Tour in die Wüste war top, abends Planetarium war ausbaufähig. Frühstück sehr lecker! Schöner großer Pool. Restaurantempfehlung war super. Besonderes Dankeschön an Jainer und seinen Bruder Felipe, der uns mit seinem Auto nach Salento gefahren hat für einen super Preis!!! Würden das Hotel und Felipe als Fahrer uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Danke!

The area felt safe and the rooftop terrace was decorated really nicely. Very close to the airport in a residential area. We stayed there after a few days in the desert and definitely recommend it.

They have gone out of their way to keep this hotel in it’s original splendour! This is one of the best places I stayed while in Colombia for six weeks. The location is perfect. It is on the central square but all rooms are set back from the street if you have sensitive hearing.

Die Unterkunft Monasterio San Agustín, Colombia mit 4 Sternen, die in San Agustín gelegen ist, bietet Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten mit einem Garten, einer Terrasse und einer Bar. Wir kamen in der Dunkelheit abends um 21:00 an. Das Monasterio liegt am Ende der Welt, der Weg dahin war aber gut beschildert. Obwohl die Küche schon geschlossen hatte wurde uns zu später Stunde noch eine warme Mahlzeit vom Chef persönlich zubereitet. Wir haben in der Präsidentensuite übernachtet. Mit grosszügigem Balkon, Sitzecke und Hängematte draussen. Ein Erlebnis! Das Frühstück mit den vielen Früchten im wunderschönen Garten haben wir sehr genossen. Wir haben zahlreiche Ausflugstipps vom Chef des Hauses und seinem Personal bekommen. Wir sind froh, dass wir 4 Nächte geblieben sind. Am liebsten wären wir noch länger geblieben. Es ist von grossem Vorteil, wenn man mit dem eigenen Auto anreist. Ansonsten ist das Hotel ziemlich abgelegen.
