Set in Kavarna, Hotel Laguna Terrace features a terrace, restaurant, bar, and free WiFi throughout the property. Everyone was friendly and helpful, especially the manager (Danny) and the restaurant staff. Thankfully they spoke some English! The hotel is situated on a pedestrianised, tree-lined street, which was surprisingly quiet during our stay (14-19 June '23). The restaurant terrace overlooks tall green trees, with lots of birdsong, giving it a rural feel. We enjoyed the tranquillity of this hotel's location, though some may find the small town of Kavarna just too quiet and uneventful. For those seeking sea and sand, it's 5-minute drive from the local beaches, a good 25 minutes' walk (and uphill coming back). We took a taxi to Cape Kaliakra, definitely worth a visit (make sure you use sun screen and take a hat, as there's very little shade and it's quite windy). Kaliakra is too far to walk from Kavarna, especially as it's along a main road without pavements. Back to the hotel. Our room was spacious, light and comfortable. The beds were OK, though a little softer than we like. The hotel and restaurant were impeccably clean and tastefully decorated/furnished. We had several evening meals in the restaurant, as the food is good and fairly priced. Breakfast (included in our package) was tasty and filling - brilliant omelettes! Also, the home-made carrot cake is superb.

All noise and music stops at 10pm - great for relaxing vacation

I'm in my mid 50s and not at all interested in a beach...
I'm in my mid 50s and not at all interested in a beach holiday – we like Balchik because although it's right on the Black Sea it is not crazy like Sunny Beach or Golden Sands. There are restaurants all along the sea fronts and British-born Queen Marie's Gardens are enchanting. Very busy in the summer, but open from 8am to 8pm. It's not too far from Varna Airport (40 mins) or the city of Varna itself. Dobrich is not too far away either, with its combination of Soviet-era architecture and tiny, old artisan workshops and shops, plus the fascinating but small museums where you can see artefacts from 6000-7000 BC! Bulgaria has an amazing culture and history. It was the first place humans ever worked gold (so far as we know) then was part of the Ottoman Empire for centuries before becoming of the Soviet Bloc. And do go to the nearby Kaliakria peninsula - another place packed with history and legend.

Kavarna is still unspoilt and not a haven for tourists. The town itself is quiet but has enough bars and shops. The beach is very nice, alongside a fishing port with a couple of bars on it. There are several nice restaurants nearby. The Balgarka is probably the best but is a bit more pricy. The Balgarka gets crowded on weekends and we found the best time to go for food is lunch-time... There are some nice places nearby to visit, including Tyulenovo (swimming off the rocks), Shabla (huge beach) and the Dalboka Mussel Farm (great luch location). It is also less than an hour's drive from Balchik, Dobrich, Albena, Varna and Romania.

This hotel is in an excellent location.
This hotel is in an excellent location. It is central to Dobrich and has a five star restaurant. The rooms are spacious and clean and car parking is very easy. The hotel needs to address the breakfast menu as it just seems to have. Been thrown together with no thought for the guest. There was no selection of fruit or cereals and the cooked food was mediocre to say the least. more variety in every department please.
