J-Hoppers Kumano Yunomine Guesthouse is situated in Hongu, a 10-minute drive away or a 70-minute walk on the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route from Kumano Hongu Taisha Grand Shrine. Super cool hostel. The staff was super nice, and the people I met there as well. The private onsens were great, especially the outdoor one. I slept on the dormitory, and the futon beds were really comfortable and you had a lot of space for yourself. As there are not many food options around, they asked me before if I wanted to order a bento box, which I did. It was very delicious. I would really recommend this place to stay during the Kumano Kodo. Super great hostel and also great value!

The owner was absolutely lovely and really helpful ! Everything was perfect. The rooms are confortable and we had everything we needed. Thank you for the breakfast and the lunch box (it was delicious!!!). We definitely recommend this place for a nice break during Kumano Kodo.

If you have a small group, the 4 ppl room on the 3rd floor is perfect. The place has lots of great info in multiple languages and the affiliated izakaya was the perfect place to go for dinner.

The owners went out of their way helping us to get our daughter's phone back, which she had left on the train (driving to the station in the middle of the night and organizing the key to the train!). The food prepared by the host was phenomenal always. All food was procured locally and their goat cheese is absolutely delightful. After dinner, Gio recommended we take a stroll to see the stars and recommended some easy hiking paths to take in the morning after we left. The house was warm throughout despite being an old fashioned house in the mountains with no drafts. The futons unbelievably comfortable. I got to play with goats in the morning so that's always a good day in my book.
