Here, you will have an experience that no hotel will provide. If you stick around at the camp during the day, they will pamper you with fresh coconuts, show you how to prepare cashews, take you canoeing to Mida (Captain Daniel is a great guide, unlike some other "guides" you will find on the coast, he actually posesses an abundance of knowlege and has great spirit - he is so fun to be around!), and show you how to make local food. A special shout-out to the ladies - their cooking is amazing! Definitely join their cooking classes or, if you are more into eating, they will make you a great supper with fresh local ingredients. This is a growing organization - for now they can provide only the essentials of facilities, but the prices are adjusted accordingly. Even if you decide to spend your nights elsewhere, be sure to visit the camp and ask about the activities they provide. You will not be disapointed - Harrison with his team will make sure to exceed your expectations. A big thank you to the whole team - we will not forget you!

This tent's special feature is the pool with a view. Providing free toiletries and bathrobes, this tent includes a private bathroom with a shower, a hairdryer and slippers. Some of the best food I've eaten in Kenya so far, our room had an amazing view and didn't disappoint at all. The swimming pool was amazing and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The view of the moon rising while we were eating dinner was one of the best things I've ever witnessed. I'd recommend this to anybody in the area, it's paradise!

The camp is greatly integrated into the local atmosphere of Watamu. Waking up to the sound of the sea, birds and monkeys is priceless, The staff is nice and the facilities are also good.

This tent features a private entrance. Located at Kilifi Creek, just 3 km outside of town and surrounded by a community forest, Distant Relatives Ecolodge and Backpackers features a secluded beach... Out of everywhere in the world, this was my favorite hostel ever! Meant to stay 4 nights and stayed 2 weeks and didn’t want to leave. The property is HUGE and so beautiful. They were constantly cleaning and all the facilities were well maintained. The staff, especially Beth, Brian and George were incredible. There’s hostel pets we fell in love with as well. Can cook there too! Just beware monkeys will enter the dorm rooms constantly! So don’t bring food in there. Couldn’t recommend enough.
