Oyado Tamaki offers indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths and a traditional garden with benches where guests can sit and relax in. Nice location, gorgeous facilities. The ambiance is soothing and the meals are absolutely delicious. We experienced Japanese customer care like never before. The baths are amazing with an indoor and outdoor area, and the amenities are all you could ask for.
Ikaho Onsen, Shibukawa
Situated in Shibukawa and only 46 km from Usui Pass Railway Heritage Park, Ikaho Syusuien features accommodation with mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking. I loved the place. I have never stayed in a hotel that I would have loved more. It was my first experience with hot springs and I enjoyed them a lot. Why not a full smile for bed: my arthritis and futon were not the best friends, haha! But that was not hotel's fault. But I managed well enough. And I have never had a more beautiful view from a hotel window.

Set in a valley surrounded by green mountains, Kishigon Ryokan is 7 minutes’ walk from Ikaho Shrine. It provides a sauna, massages and public and private reservable hot-spring baths. Well situated on the Ikaho Stone Steps, Kishigon Ryokan had a wonderful check in service and large breakfast buffet selection. The 3 onsen choices were all different. The open aspect onsen was my favourite. There was a magnificent view as you stepped out of the main elevator.

Featuring a spacious indoor hot spring bath and a rooftop outdoor one, as well as karaoke rooms, table tennis and, Mimatsukan offers relaxation and entertainment in the heart of the Ikaho hot spring... What did I like about Mimatsukan? Honestly I loved everything! To start with, it had a homely and traditional atmosphere that was really special. Even though the staff didn't speak much English, they were incredibly friendly and did their best to make our stay enjoyable. It really felt like we were getting an authentic experience of Japanese culture, and it was one of the biggest highlight of our month long trip. The open-air onsen was absolutely beautiful and serene, and it was a great way to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring the area. I also enjoyed the sweet, cozy feel of the rooms, which added to the overall homely feel of the ryokan. The breakfast was absolutely phenomenal! I couldn't get enough of the delicious food, and it really left a lasting impression on my taste buds. Another great thing about staying at this ryokan was knowing that I was helping the local economy. By staying in an area that has been affected by the lack of tourism in Japan due to COVID-19, I felt good to supporting local businesses. If you're looking for a great place to eat nearby, I highly recommend checking out the restaurant called きっちん 志家, which is just around the corner. The food was amazing, and it was a great addition to my overall experience in Ikaho Onsen. Overall, I loved my stay at this ryokan and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable experience. From the homely and traditional atmosphere to the beautiful open-air onsen and phenomenal breakfast, it had everything I was looking for and more.
