Stonebrook Lodge, hotel in Cherokee

This Cherokee Stonebrook Lodge is opposite Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort and is 3.5 mi from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

We have stayed at this property a few times and found it adequate but this trip was very different. The mattress was really old, when I sat on the edge of the bed the mattress went all the way down to the box spring, the chair had a huge hole in the underside so when I sat down I felt ad though I was going to fall through, and the tub had horrible patches in it.

(My wife and I stayed at this location in the fall of October 2023. That visit was also for 3 days and nights. Our room was up at the front of the hotel and it was nice.) But this stay was a nightmare. Room #271 at the very back of the hotel. The room we were in had about 1" crack all the way around inside the room door. Also at the bottom of the door we place a towel trying to keep the smoke from the fire pit across from our room entering our room. But others outside their room next to ours were smoking cigarettes and that smoke also entered our room because of the gaps in the door. Also didn't like the young girl that checked us in at the front desk asking to see my credit card.Said she wanted to put it on file just in case we damaged room, smoked in room, took dogs in room,or had more than 2 people staying in the room could charge my card. Plus said the booking company charged the hotel 18% booking fee. So my wife and I will not be using Booking.com anymore or stay at this hotel ever again. I have a picture of inside our room door at night that shows the defect door I took with my phone.

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway in a quiet town,...

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway in a quiet town, Cherokee is the place for you. There is minimum to do there, but it is nice if youre looking for a relaxing weekend. Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg, TN are about an hour or so away and the drive is about 30-40 minutes (depending on traffic and weather) of scenic views - with pull offs for you to take pictures or take a break if needed. Cherokee does have the Harrah's Casino and really thats the only thing going on up there. We did eat at 2 places in Cherokee - Grannys Kitchen (buffet) & Osaka Sushi Bar & Asian Cuisine. Grannys Kitchen was packed when we rode by and had excellent reviews online. So we knew it was going to be good - but we were wrong. Its a "buffet" with only 1 line of food...thats it. The food was bland and the collards tasted like they were cut, put into a pot of just water with an onion and thats it. The cornbread, I could lay foundation with how hard it was and everything else was just mediocre. The server we had was nice, but for 2 people at the buffet with one drink (Sprite) was $40 and some change. Osaka was decent, but I have had better. The server we had was nice and attentive, but the food just wasnt hitting on anything. Personally, you would just be better off going the extra miles to Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg to have a better time and better food.

We chose this property as the property description stated...

We chose this property as the property description stated that it was .3 miles from the Cherokee Casino, which would have been walkable to the concert that we were attending. It turned out to be WAY longer than .3 miles and we needed to drive instead. This really impacted our plans and the actual proximity to the casino is VERY misleading. Being older means that we are not as able-bodied as we used to be and the main reason we chose this hotel was the proximity to the casino, thinking that we would be able to enjoy a few cocktails while on vacation and be able to walk back to our hotel room. Very deceptive property description!

Great hotel and the employee’s were friendly and helpful.

Great hotel and the employee’s were friendly and helpful. The only negative was the bonus spins on slot machines they did not pay. I realize that winning isn’t easy they wouldn’t be in business if everyone won. But getting 12 or 15 free spins and it pays less than you bet isn’t fun.

This is very much tourist town, everywhere trying to sell cheap souvenirs and the like. The casino dominates the town, (Not worth a visit in my view, see separate review). The town was a convenient place to stop located near both the Blueridge Parkway and Great Smokey Mountains. We found a decent, basic hotel to be the MicroTel and there was a Japanese restaurant a few doors down which had good food at fair prices. If traveling again, I’d try not to stay in Cherokee, hopefully finding something away from the tat.

Easy check-in. Decor was lovely, lots of photos of the Smoky Mountains, and nice geometric carpet and wall-hangings. Looked recently updated. Bed was comfortable. Easy A/C/heat control. Breakfast was included, mainly carbs, but a varied selection. Coffee in the room and in the dining area. Easy check-out. Grocery store a short distance from hotel. Restaurants limited, but food very good nearby. Would definitely stay here again if needing a stay in Cherokee.

The Cherokee Grand is terrific! Hands down the best accommodations in Cherokee. From its location, to the price, to the condition of the room, I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Having reviewed this hotel before, I will not go into all of the specifics again. Everything that I stated in the previous review, continues to hold true. You can expect a very consistent experience every time you stay at the Cherokee Grand. Outstanding!!

This has become my favorite place to stay in Cherokee. The exterior looks a little dated but the interiors are very up-to-date and comfortable. There is the most wonderful cool breeze that comes across the walkways at night if you sit out in front of your room. All appliances worked and the front desk staff went out of their way to make my stay a good one. You are also central to downtown and the Oconaluftee water park.

The location was great, Cherokee is a beautiful town and the hotel fits in nicely. We also loved the pool and the hot tub which we used extensively until it closed at about 11 pm. Room was spacious and had a fridge. For breakfast, walk across the street to Peter's Pancakes and Waffles. Fantastic diner! But since you are not the only person/group that is craving for a proper breakfast better reserve a table before you go.

The location was great and it was beautifully decorated hotel overall. Our rooms were spacious enough and everything was clean. Breakfast was good and the overall stay was good. The staff member we encountered was a young girl and she seemed to very nice and was working hard, especially during breakfast with a big crowd as well as front desk duties.

The hotel was way better than expected. Staff was great, rooms were very clean, and the breakfast was good. If we had one complaint, it was that the hotel needs a sign and some lighting outside. We found out that the place is in a bit of a transition phase in regards ownership, so perhaps these issues will be addressed.
