Carcavelos Surf Hostel is an excellent place to stay! It is in a great location: a short walk to the beach, grocery, cafes, and 10-minutes to the metro. Everyone working there made my son (17) and I feel welcome, including the owner, Jose. We have stayed in many hostels across multiple countries and CSH is very safe, affordable, and well maintained.
Featuring free WiFi throughout the property, a sun terrace with a swimming pool, garden and shared lounge, Help Yourself Hostels - Carcavelos Coast is situated in Carcavelos.

A Faded Jewel in need of refreshment BUT you can't take away from the beach and its amenities. Signs of new cafes and restaurants starting up, but the impression is the crowds come from the city anyway so why make a huge effort :-) There is no real centre as we could see, just a linear settlement unlike villages up the Marginal or further in towards Lisbon.

Parts of Carcavelos away from the train line are actually quite nice. It's quite a sleepy little town outside of summer. The main beach is really for surfing not swimming. We were there in September and the water was already too cold. There are some nicer beaches to swim at close by but not really serviced by pubic transport.
It doesn't really have a great number of good restaurants and feels a little bit like a town than the locals commute into the city from.
Probably more of a day trip from Lisbon as opposed to somewhere to base yourself for a large amount of time unless you intend to surf.

A very well situated town for the ones who want to visit Lisbon and other tourist attractions. A very good and cheap public transport. Very clean, wide and safe beaches. Possibility to walk along the coastline. Numerous shops and restaurants. Helpful natives. Clean air.
The host Patricia was really nice and helpful. When a TV set got broke she brought a new one the same day. Property location was brilliant in quiet estate, close to (famous) beach and shops , park close by, short distance to train station if you want to quickly get to Lisbon, Cascais or Sintra. Apartment fully equipped very clean and freshly decorated. Unfortunately me and my girlfriend had to leave after 3 nights as our holyday was over. We would love to stay longer next time.
Amazing place with tons of character and very accommodating hosts. The eclectic and tasteful decor was impressively pulled together and we were discovering little thoughtful details throughout our stay. The property provided piece and comfort, and all our needs were met. The location is a short Uber drive to every destination worth visiting - the Carcavelos beaches, Cascais, Sintra, Lisbon. We wished we had booked a few more days as there was definitely more to explore.
Great location approx 15min walk to Carcavelos beach playground which our young kids loved the mix of sand/water with climbing slides and zip lines. On a bus route, and approx 10min walk to oireas train station. The apt was immaculate and well laid out. The apartment is in a residential area so relatively quiet but small mini mart/cafe nearby for daily essentials, supermarket approx 15min walk. We were with 2&4yr old so our walking might be slow!
The room was large an£ bed was very comfortable. Rosa was an amazing host who left a wonderful arrangement of homemade sweets, fruit, and water for you. The location is facing the plaza with all the eateries that aren’t on the beach, and the restaurant below looks fantastic although I didn’t eat there. Less than 5 mins to the beach. I ended up staying an extra night
The apartment is really confortable with a great design, relaxing. It is at 5 minutes walk from Carcavelos Beach and shops and the housekeeper is very accommodating. Also, it is very easy to go to the subway station (15 minutes walk), I would recommend it for anyone who would like to visit Lisbon and enjoy the beach as well (to relax or surf).
We were warmly welcomed by Patricia who gave us a tour of the apartment. It is on the top floor of the building overlooking a park, there is a supermarket a 5 minute walk away and the beach is a 10 minute walk away.
The apartment itself was very clean in a peaceful area, with perfect facilities for an enjoyable comfortable stay.
Extremely friendly owner, quick to reply to any requests, accommodating to last minute changes...
Large well equipped room/apartment with plenty of light. Beaches within walking distance, many excellent restaurants nearby, not too far away from public transport...
Also delicious welcome package :)
Very good location near to the beach of Carcavelos, with a nice swimming pool, quite spacious and comfortable rooms and very good breakfast included. A bit on the expensive side but the whole experience was quite good. Definitely one of the best holiday days of this year.
The view from the balcony was great, as well as location, just a few hundred meters from the beach. The room was clean. Hotel staff was helpful with resolving the issue of missing fridge in the room, we asked in the evening and it was installed next morning as promised.
it was very clean, staff were lovely. shopping mall attached to it was really good. hotel pool bar was lovely. staff there were really friendly and would do anything for you. great location. 10 min walk to train and beach.
Friendly welcome, helpful owners, very clean room and small shower-room. It was perfectly fine for what I needed while attending a conference in Carcavelos.
Its a good place to stay near the beach for your vacation, it also has a shared kitchen, so you can cook your meals if you want, the staff is very helpful.
