The shipping office had a lot of charm and was centrally located. It was a bit funky, but in a good way. Lots of space to spread out and organize while on our road trip.

My Partner and I have visited Akaroa three times, the views are absolutely beautiful, the French heritage is evident, gardens are well maintained around the village. There are lots of little shops, cafes and restaurants to suit all.

Lots to do here. Great shops and cafes/restaurants. You must sail on the Fox II to see the dolphins, penguins and seals and learn about the local history. Outstanding!

Akaroa is a must-visit township, it has some amazing cafes/restaurants, and the food is great and varied. Some of them have both inside and outside seating so it is lovely to take advantage of that on a nice day. There are also some great wee shops to visit where you can find a treasure of two. We found a gin-tasting cafe that is a must-visit when you are there and also an Indian Restaurant whose food was amazing. All the shops and cafes are within walking distance if your accommodation is in town. There are some great walks to go on and we also went swimming with the dolphins which is an experience I highly recommend when you are in Akaroa.

We loved the quaint historic town.
We loved the quaint historic town. We loved its French flavour. The cafe’s and restaurants outstanding especially Ma Maison where we had the best meal ever. The food, the flavours and the welcoming staff, outstanding! We had breakfast at The Common, again fabulous. We loved walking round the bay to the quay. Everyone was so friendly and happy to stop and talk. At the end of the quay was the prize, the beautiful pearl shop, an absolute must to visit. We can’t wait to return. Already planning a longer trip.

I have been a regular visitor as my French ancestors founded it. The only thing that stops me coming more often is that dangerous-feeling hill up and down. Nice, quiet (mostly) place that focuses on food, events and nature. Need to put in a lot more effort to add more genuine French flavour to shops and activities. A simple Bonjour is not too difficult. Akaroa's true French nature is being dumbed down by new arrivals who are only interested in commerical gain.
We Were staying for the weekend in Akaroa and left it a bit late to book our Hotel and found only this Hotel had a room left . The Price of the room was very Affordable , Its an older Hotel Built they say in 1882 so we had to carry our bags up the stairs to the room . Well it did the Job for us and found we can walk to the other bars and restaurants very easy . I do like old Pubs and have used a lot in Ireland and the UK so one has to put up with a few minor thing .
We arrived on Labour Day public holiday and found the town humming with tourists. It had been 22 years since I was in Akaroa and once late afternoon arrived, then the tourists returned to Christchurch.
This property has its own waterfront area so it was great to see all the different varieties of birds on the rocks and in the water.
This is a delightful place. The owners are friendly & helpful. They work hard to keep up a beautiful old house along with gorgeous flower gardens. Everything was neat, clean and tidy. They had lots of suggestions of places to visit. The location is convenient to Akaroa, about 12 km away,’and very close to the water.
Room 1 had a beautiful view of the Akaroa lake from its balcony. We enjoyed the sunset views from the room's balcony. Lyndal was very pleasant and patient with her explanation at the reception! The room is located near all the amenities in the town centre so it was very convenient to move around on foot.
The property consists of 2 apartments. We had the Penthouse on top of the building. It had amazing views over Akaroa Harbour. The property is an easy 20min walk along the waterfront to the centre of Akaroa where there are many dining venues. "The Common" was frequented by us a lot during our stay!
A spacious, clean and well-appointed apartment on the waterfront of Akaroa Harbour with beautiful vistas across the water
Daily housekeeping is provided if required, and everything that Akaroa has to offer is a comfortable stroll away.
Excellent laundry facilities are provided in the apartment.
We received a friendly welcome on arrival and were provided with all the relevant information regarding our stay. We asked for restaurant recommendations and were not disappointed with the dinner we had at the Madeira Hotel. Our room was very clean, and the kitchen was well equipped.
Having been there twice before and having walked all round Akaroa looking at other hotels etc. we decided that this was probably the best place to stay. One main advantage was that you could swim from the premises and hire boats as well.
Cosy studio under owner's home. Beautifully furnished with modern bathroom. Lovely quiet location a short drive from waterfront. Historic cottage in landscaped gardens. Great to sit outside and enjoy view. Friendly and welcoming owners.
Wonderful small hotel with views and balconies looking out over the water. Restaurants, bars and coffee shops are all within walking distance. Very friendly and attentive staff. Really made you feel welcome.
The Holiday park was clean and comfortable. Location was good, have a beautiful view.
The person at the reception was very helpful and in detail explained everything about getting to the room and wi-fi etc.
We loved this holiday home, located in a gorgeous location and kitted out well. Would recommend this place for a weekend in Akaroa, perfect for families. Host was very friendly and easy to communicate with.
Location was an easy stroll to the waterfront, wharf, restaurants and shops. The apartment was well set up with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and an extra toilet. All very clean and comfortable.
Great apartment right on the shore at beautiful Akaroa. Central to everything, lots of room, a great place to stay for a few days and self cater but also close to many good places to eat.
Very scenic location above Akaroa and in bush.
The tiny house was in great condition and well supplied with what we needed. Nice to meet the owners Ken and Jenn.
Despite being in the centre of Akaroa, the apartment was wonderfully quiet. There was plenty of space for the two of us. We will certainly consider returning.
