Affluent Brescia is an industrial hub whose Roman and medieval monuments are relatively undiscovered. Its strategic location in the foothills of the Alps and midway between Lake Garda and Lake Iseo was coveted by invaders, and during efforts to ward off the Austrians it earned the nickname of the Lioness of Italy.
Brescia’s oldest landmarks are the Capitolium, overlooking the former Forum, and the Roman theatre remains. Artefacts found on both sites are displayed in the city museum in St Julia’s Monastery alongside remains of 2 Roman houses with their original mosaics, murals and underfloor heating.
The Broletto was the medieval town hall and it shares a large, cobbled square with the round Old Cathedral (or Rotonda) which is partly below current street level. Between them is the New Cathedral, begun in the 17th century. Piazza della Loggia is dominated by the Loggia itself and at the opposite end is a porticoed walkway housing shops and cafes.
Overlooking this from a hill is Brescia Castle whose ramparts offer views towards the lush Franciacorta wine-growing region. To the east is Sant'Eufemia della Fonte Monastery, home of the Mille Miglia Museum commemorating the iconic motorsport race which started here.
Booking.com’s accommodation options include luxury hotels, cheap apartments by the train station and B&Bs near Brescia Airport.

Brescia is a magnificent city -- very walkable through the historic centre and UNESCO world heritage site, fabulous architecture -- from Roman ruins through medieval to Renaissance, 19th century and 20th century deco buildings. The main museum is outstanding, shopping areas under porticos are fabulous, and the centre is bustling with beautiful plazas and squares, and fabulous restaurants and bars. A unique experience is the elegant restaurant, Antico Beccaria.

Brescia is not a small town but like big other big cities in Italy it is not the same as in the past. It is calm although full of foreign people, has a beautiful ancient centre and cathedral and one can make a walk for 2-3 hours and one lunch or coffee. There is a faculty of economy of Brescia and so students and the city is not dead. As you know the students drive economy and keep economy live, so the town is better than cities like Trento, Parma, Genova, but less interesting than Verona, Pisa, Bologna.

Parco Archeologico di Brescia Romana had an impressive roman temple facade, frescoes, mosaics and marble floors, and the vast Museo di Santa Giulia housed some spectacular remains of roman villas. Well worth a visit. Views from the Castle were spectacular. Taking the train to Verona is also highly recommended (not on a Monday when THAT balcony and the amphitheatre were closed).

Brescia is an underrated city for sure.
Brescia is an underrated city for sure. However, there's a lot to see/visit here and a great place to explore the area (I easily took one day trips to Bergamo and Bologna, as well as Lake Garda).
The Santa Giulia museum is absolutely a-ma-zing.

Brescia itself is a super nice place.
Brescia itself is a super nice place. But what infected me chose it and accordingly recommend it - a great starting point for a trip. Direct train to Milan, direct train to Verona. By car, Lago di Garda is 30-40 minutes away.
Similar to my earlier trip and consequent review, I used the facilities at LUOGO COMUNE Ostello as a basis for the starting and end point of my trip to northern Italy. The facilities are very well looked after and impeccably clean. The location is excellent and is a few minutes walk from the metro station as well as various small shops for food and groceries plus the McDonald's. Check-in is quite generous as staff is around till 22:00. The ability to use an elevator is most welcome for those with lots of luggage or mobility issues.
It is an amazing property. Really close to city centre and bus stops if you need to go anywhere else, also the train station Is within walking distance. The property was super clean, had everything we needed(coffee machine and pods to wake up and have coffee at your disposal, tea kettle, modern stove and oven as well as a newly equipped bathroom). The host was very friendly and helped with any questions we had. We will definitely choose this property again if we come to Brescia.
A huge surprise to discover such a great hotel at the heart of Brescia. Recently opened, it was a great place to spend the night and discover the old city. A lot of restaurants in walking range, the Brescia castle visible from the room's window, the old town nearby - what more could you wish for?
D., our host, was really great and helpful. Always available and ready to give us all the info we needed, he made our stay even brighter.
Quiet, extremely clean, newly and stylishly renovated, spacious. Breakfast was all the self serve items you get in Italy, plus a choice of a cooked to order food. We had probably the best omlette of our lives:(local ham and soft cheese filling).
3 minute walk to town centre metro.
Friendly multi lingual staff. Small establishment. We ended up feeling like friends.
Wonderful hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms and common areas spotlessly clean. All communications prior to our stay were answered promptly, including arranging parking for us in the train station car park around the corner. An easy flat walk from the beautiful old centre of Brescia and it fabulous sights, bars and restaurants. We couldn’t have asked for more.
Davide left an assortment of teas, coffee pods, jams , yogurt, milk, water, chocolates and everyday condiments; most unexpected for apartments we have stayed in our numerous visits to Italy. It also had a very well equipped kitchen. An allround comfortable apartment.
Brescia itself is well worth a visit and has plenty to offer.
Lovely quirky little hotel, right in the middle of Brescia and literally yards from the main squares and all the tourist areas. 15 minutes walking from the railway station.
Staff were very welcoming.
I would happily recommend this place for a stopover in Brescia.
Close to the main piazza. Comfortable room. Breakfast was super, the best I had in Italy during my trip. Usually Italian breakfast is quite simple, but the host provided a variety choice of breakfast-cheese, ham, yogurt, juice, toast, snacks.
Perfect, a lot of choices. It was the second stay in this hotel. I have all the appreciation for the conditions, staff, cleanliness, breakfast. A perfect location both for traveling and for visiting Brescia. 30 minutes from the city center.
The location was pretty good, 20 min to center. It was easy to find, and though I didn't need it there's a train station very close to the hotel. I enjoyed breakfast. staff was helpful, bed was comfy and wifi signal was good.
The hotel is in a great location. It's close to the train station and the sights of Brescia.
The rooms are clean and modern, and the bed was comfortable.
The breakfast was very nice and included gluten-free items.
Beautiful hotel with large, marble reception area. Room was spacious with high ceilings and super high double windows which opened out onto the street. Staff were smiley and helpful. Breakfast was fabulous.
Location was great as i was overnighting before a flight out of Milan the next day. Breakfast was excellent, coffee was great. Bonus was getting to watch a kids soccer match across the road from the hotel
The hotel has its own parking which is very convenient, because it is difficult to find parking places in Brescia in busy hours. Staff is nice and helpful.
