We only used the hotel as a day room before we had a late flight out but would certainly use again for longer stay. Location was quiet, close to a couple of good restaurants and even had a stairs down to a small beach to give easy access to the sea for swimming.

The old town is very picturesque, easily walkable, and very relaxed, lots of restaurants with outdoor dining, also lovely sitting by the port dining, long promenade along lovely beach. Less touristy than Chania. Located between Chania and Heraklion, makes it ideal for visiting both as well as archaeological sites etc.

Rethymno has the right mix of old town charm, modern hotels, a beach and a nice promenade. Plenty of places that serve authentic Greek food at very affordable prices, nice shopping opportunities, a pretty good beach - overall, I think Rethymno is better than Heraklion or Chania for a vacation stay.

As with everywhere in Greece, food was phenomenal.
As with everywhere in Greece, food was phenomenal. I even enjoyed the humorous "hard sell" barker at a dockside Taverna. "Are you hungry? You look hungry! Your hunger is subconscious!" and so forth. As an overweight psychiatrist in the States, both my wife and I were rolling in laughter. "If he is hungry now, what will he look like when he is full?"

We have stayed here before but last time further out of town in a villa. This trip we stayed in town within walking distance of everything. There are so many different restaurants we could have stayed for six months to sample them all. Would recommend finding the little tavernas up the little side streets for the most interesting dishes. House wine is great value and nearly always decent. If you want to splash out a bit a private boat rental to take you up the coast is well worth it and can be found in the old harbour from a number of vendors. If you like a beach there is a fantastic one that stretches from the East end of town. And if you don't like the sand there are some steps to access the rocky area of the sea to the west of the castle.
Maria and her family are fantastic hosts! We received a warm welcome with lots of suggestions for beautiful Crete sights and traditional restaurants.
The apartments are good value for money and had everything we needed (kitchen, iron, air conditioning etc.). Mardinik apartments are 3-4 mins from the beach and around 15 min from the old town. There is also a small free public parking next to the hotel.
We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend the location!
This is a nice hotel. We had the only room on the top (5th Floor) with a large outdoor terrace. It does face south though and gets very hot, if you want some shade then this is not the room for you. There are 2 air-cons in the apartment which worked extremely well to keep the place cool. Pool is good and was quiet when we were there. Hotel is just one block from the beach which was lovely. It was about a 15 minute walk to the Old Town.
- Nice big terraces (2 terraces per apartment) with very nice partial view to the beach.
- Very good location on the beachfront
- The staff is very friendly and helpful
- Well equipped kitchenette
- You can find all that you need in nearby supermarkets and stores
- Better to go to the beach 100m towards city centre (to the right if you are looking at the sea), better sand than just in front of the hotel
We visited Rethymno briefly before while in Crete and liked it so much that we chose to come back and stay in Anna’s fabulous boutique hotel. The historical old town is beautiful and the hotel perfectly located in the centre. Anna gave us an incredibly personal experience offering guidance and pointers on sightseeing and restaurants to visit. Anna and her whole team made us feel so welcome and cared for.
Our stay at Afroditi was exceptional. The hotel is located in the middle of the old Town, so all major tourist attractions are within walking distance. Our host Yannis was very helpful and welcoming, providing us with several tips for great restaurants nearby. We were also greeted on arrival with great Cretan wine! We cannot recommend this hotel enough!
This hotel is fabulous, it is a small hotel run by a lovely friendly family. The setting is beautiful, right on the beach,so lovely to wake up to the sound and sight of the sea. Breakfast is very nice and you can eat it outside by the sea. It's a 20 minute walk or a 6 euro taxi ride to the lovely old town which is beautiful.
Beautiful hotel, kept in impeccable condition by their lovely and friendly staff. We stayed on the lower ground floor and our balcony had stairs directly to the pool which was so convenient. Although not advertised, the hotel has sun loungers available for free on the beach via its sister hotel Odyssia. A great stay.
Amazing location - you’re in amongst the old town in seconds and on the beach in minutes. Fantastic for parking - there is a private car park just opposite and even in high season the guys there will get you a space sorted. The room was really clean and every room had a balcony. Pool is a good size and temperature!
Location is perfect. It’s just a short walk from the Old town and a 10 min walk to the beach. We had a room with garden view, so nice and quiet! I don’t remember ever sleeping that well in a hotel!
The staff was really friendly. I was travelling with my 3 year old and everyone was very friendly and helpful!
boutique hotel on the outskirts of old town, perfect pied a terre to explore rethymno area, property and pool area is beautiful and well maintained, rooms have been recently refurnished and Christina & front staff were very helpful and attentive. we had a beautiful sunset view and very spacious room.
Really lovely family run hotel in central Rethymno. Really close to the beach and old town but set back from the main road. Incredible staff who were very welcoming and helpful. The room is clean, spacious and comfortable. The rooftop has a nice view of the sea as well. Would definitely recommend!
Eleni was a wonderful host! The hotel is located in the old town and is beautifully decorated with a perfect mixture between old and new.
It was very neat and clean (which made me extra happy)!
Note: as this is a renovation of an old building there’s no elevator.
Just go there!!!
New family run hotel which was extremely well designed and comfortable. Close to a lot of restaurants and easy want to beach and old town area. Staff/owners are very nice and helpful. Rooftop area with small pool was really nice.
A beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of old town in Rethymno. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The pool, the breakfast, the bar was all wonderful, and the fantastic staff made it even better.
Amazing place, scenery, facilities, food, and staff. Situated on the beach this hotel beats many 5* hotels in the city. The staff is amazing and the views are just out of a postcard.
Out stay at Kipos hotel was amazing. Excellent location, just few steps from the old town, clean and comfortable rooms and great hosts made our vacation an unforgettable experience.
We enjoyed the fact that the hotel was right on the beach, however, the hotel did not provide the guests with beach chairs - you had to pay a fee for them.
