The room was excellent modern and bright , However,
The bottom sheet on the bed was creased and rumpled, could it be the sheet had not been changed.
Apart from a minor hiccup , allow and will choose the hotel again.

Though breakfast was not included we had plenty of self service items like fruit, cereals, bread, croissants left for us and replenished every day which we thought was a wonderful gesture.

A place combining plenty of history of different periods (we went on a fantastic trike trip (https://orkneytriketours.co.uk/) - great experience, visiting the Italian Chapel, standing stones and Scara Brae. The town itself has a 12-century cathedral, historical ruins, and museums, including the wireless communications museum, which was created and is being run by enthusiasts. There are also different daily art groups at Gallery 25 (https://www.facebook.com/Number25Kirkwall/?locale=en_GB) which we enjoyed joining. And the local English is very melodic - it is a pleasure listening to it! I can't say we discovered the fantastic seafood, but there is a lovely shop, The Brig Larder (https://www.jollysoforkney.co.uk/pages/the-brig-larder, one can also order local delicacies to be delivered) - again with lovely staff and a good selection of locally sourced dairy, cheese, seafood and preserves.

Kirkwall is a beautiful little city.
Kirkwall is a beautiful little city. I came for the incredible Neolithic history and to search for family ties in the area. There are many jewelry shops as well as artists studios and tweed or wool shops. The museum is also fantastic. It’s a fibre artist’s dream.

I would not stay at this hotel again out of choice .
I would not stay at this hotel again out of choice . We visited a restaurant out of town for a meal and it was superb. I then read the reviews for this restaurant with rooms which was in a beautiful location with lovely views and they were excellent also far cheaper.
The restaurant was the Foveran and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Also visited the Italian chapel and the site of the discovery of a 3000 year old settlement both of which are a must to see.
I played golf at the Kirkwall golf club very friendly and welcoming although totally self booked with honesty box available .
The hotel is atmospheric and very centrally located while being on the seaside. It is a short walk to ferries and buses and also to the cathedral and museums in Kirkwall. We loved the more spacious room 102 (although being just over a bar is not the best location for a Friday night - unless you are in the bar at that time as well :) This was a navy headquarters building so plenty of objects reminding of the past. The reception and restaurant staff are lovely and also very helpful.
The room was comfortable. And the kitchen and dining rooms were superb! suitable for cooking and enjoying an extended stay. Even though the bathroom facilities were quite old everything worked just fine. I am looking forward to your upgrade if I have a chance to visit Kirkwall again in the future. And the most important thing is the staff who were very nice, friendly, and helpful.
Great guest house a short walk from downtown Kirkwall. This is an ideal base to see everything Mainland Orkney has to offer. We walked to Kirkwall and the Highland Park distillery from here. Breakfast was very good, and the rooms were comfortable.
Everything. The living & bedroom was comfortable and clean with plenty of supplies. Located within a 10/15 minute walk in to central Kirkwall and no more than half hour drive to reach either the east or west coasts of the mainland.
It was a clean and very comfortable place to stay (for 6 nights). Great location in the lovely and interesting Conservation Area of Kirkwall with lots of local shops as well as Tesco, Lidl and Co-op within easy walking distance.
The hosts made us feel at home. My son had a great time playing in the yard with the kids. The hosts are native to Orkney so have a lot of knowledge to share. They run tours as well so highly recommend booking with them.
The Kirkwall next door where we had our meals is a fantastic hotel with great food. Our property the Shore needs a facelift and then it could be a wonderful hotel.
Bed was large and comfortable and room was very clean.
Stacey is a very kind and attentive host, who made us feel welcome and at home throughout our stay. The room is comfortable and in an excellent location, situated at only a short walk away from Kirkwall town centre.
A home from home in the centre of Kirkwall. The owners have thought of everything, including extra toiletries, lovely welcoming hamper and a permit for parking our car directly outside the property.
The location was an excellent place to explore the Orkneys. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. The breakfast was good - just order what you want when you sit down.
This hotel is now an annexe of the Kirkwall Hotel where we had breakfast & dinner as the Shore restaurant was closed. The breakfast kippers were delicious. Dinner food was good.
The room was very comfortable and well maintained. Staff was exceptionally nice. Food was superb. Location was perfect. I would recommend the Kirkwall Hotel to anyone.
