Outdoors Gateway to Jungfrau
Typically Swiss, Interlaken has an incredible location: on the Aar River linking nearby Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, and in the shade of magnificent Alpine mountains including famous Jungfrau. The wonderful views are seen flying into Interlaken Airport.
The lakes are great spots for sailing, swimming or simply having a picnic along the peaceful shores. The area also has its fair share of high-adrenaline pursuits including bungee jumping, paragliding and river rafting.
In winter it’s all about the Interlaken skiing and snowboarding, with options including the fabulous Jungfrau Winter Sport Region and family-friendly areas with easy slopes. The Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn glacier is UNESCO World Heritage-listed, and the Jungfraujoch mountain railway takes you to the Top of Europe, the highest railway station in Europe.
