Maasai Eco Boma & Lodge - Experience Maasai Culture bevindt zich in Makuyuni en biedt accommodatie met gratis privéparkeren. We have spent a night at Maasai Eco Boma, and honestly we regret not spending more nights here. All of the usual positive comments are here: beautiful boma and surroundings,well designed rooms with comfortable beds, tasty local food, and the friendliest staff that was always ready to help and share a couple of words and smiles. But the thing that we liked most about this property is a warm story behind it. This Eco Boma is a shared project of the local Maasai community living in one of the underdeveloped areas of Tanzania, that use this property as a mean of improving quality of life and to preserve the culture of the entire Maasai community. Everything here is local produced from the surrounding farms. Moreover the community invests the profits from this Boma into the community. They have already built a school, with the goal to achieve better education for local children. Currently they are transferring the funds in the water collection systems, to fight the worsening effects of the climate change as well in the construction of the local clinic. Will definitely come back, and recommend to others!

Ava garden backpackers bevindt zich in Mto wa Mbu met uitzicht op de tuin en heeft een restaurant, een gedeelde keuken, bar, tuin, terras en speeltuin. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for finding this location along my journey. I BOOKED FOR 2 NIGHTS BUT ENDED UP STAYING ALMOST A MONTH. The hostel is located on the edge of Manyara national park, basically the entry to the wilderness (how lucky can one be?!)🫶🏻🍀💚. When I got out of hectic Arusha, I was desperately seeking for a green and chill stay, far from bustling or too touristy places. I was welcomed by the lovely staff, Diana, Neema and Dattomax J. The moment I met them I realized the experience will be personal. I told them I wish for a local experience and visit particular tribes in the surrounding. Not only that I was given a great price (compared to the unreasonable prices some hostels give in Arusha), Dattomax has arranged my tours the nights before. Absolutely last minute requests from my side but all was realized absolutely professional. Through the staff I had the opportunity to learn a huge scope of information about the culture, more specifically: family manners & values, politics, farming, cooking and music. Throughout my stay I had over plenty different activities covered: PRIVATE TRIBE VISITS (hadzabe, datoga, masaii), GREEN PROJECTS (visit to different contemporary and traditional painters, school visits), SAFARIS (arranged for next day incl. Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro), FOOD AND FABRIC MARKETS (later visited a local tailor which was also a beautiful experience), WATERFALLS & SECRET VIEWPOINTS. And let's just include activites as Coca moto (setting fire in the garden of Ava), night outs and all the deep talks. The food catered was breakfast included: always fresh fruits, vegetables, local bites and Diana's infamous sweet pancakes. 🥞 ❤️ (lunch and dinner was also possible).The beds were super comfy, all equipped bathrooms with HOT SHOWERS ALL TIMES!! Which is super rare for hostels in Africa. My eternal gratitude for everything.

Lilac Hideaway bevindt zich in Karatu en biedt een tuin en een terras. Deze vakantiewoning heeft gratis privéparkeren en een gedeelde keuken. We enjoyed our stay at this very quiet and comfortable place very much and even extanded it for some days. Perfect for day trips to lake manyara and ngorongoro national parks. Staff is very helpful and even arranged a laundry service for us.

Africa Safari Camping Mto wa Mbu is gelegen in Mto wa Mbu en biedt accommodatie met een buitenzwembad, gratis WiFi, een tuin en een gedeelde lounge. Sommige units hebben een zithoek en/of een patio. Eigenlijk alles, de plek is paradijselijk. Schaduwrijk, rustig, mooi uitzicht, direct aan Lake Manyara (klein stukje lopen tot aan het moerassige stuk), de dieren die rond en soms in het kamp lopen. Het eten was heerlijk, zowel ontbijt als diner. Er was bv yoghurt en muesli, een unicum in Tanzania. Restaurant prachtig met uitzicht. Als je in het donker weer naar je tent gaat wordt je geescorteerd door een man met zaklamp en lange puntige stok om evt dieren op afstand te houden. Supervriendelijk personeel. Wij hadden een kleine tent geboekt maar omdat het rustig was kregen we een upgrade naar een safaritent met eigen badkamer. Supercomfortabel, we hebben er echt van genoten en zijn zelfs nog een keer teruggekomen toen het elders tegenviel.

Octagon Lodge ligt in Karatu en heeft een eigen restaurant. In dit chalet is gratis WiFi beschikbaar. De accommodatie heeft een balkon en een zitgedeelte. Stunning, amazing staff and wonderful service

Elephant Rock Luxury Camp Tarangire ligt in het nationaal park Tarangire. Het biedt een restaurant, een bar, een fitnesscentrum en een panoramisch uitzicht. We love the camp setting, but it is very far from the gate, so anticipate miles of bumpy ride to the camp. The room is large. Once the curtain is put down, it is quiet and peaceful. Dinner and Breakfast are just OK quality. There is nothing to do in the evening except sleep. Overall, it is a fine camp in the wild.
