Lovely setting in a beautiful homestay environment. It was very peaceful sitting in their beautiful garden, and the orchestra of frogs in the evening was a delight. The rooms were comfortable and spotless. Dimu and his wife were so genuine and lovely, and the curries were delicious. Dimu organised a safari tour with Sumudu as our guide. Sumudu's knowledge and respect for the animals was very much appreciated. We saw many wild elephants, Sambur deer (very rare), deer, wild boar, golden jackals, Buffalo, crocodiles, peacocks, monitor lizards, mongoose and many beautiful birds. One of the highlights of our trip! Thanks for an amazing stay, Dimu!

We’ve been travelling in Sri Lanka for a month and this has been our absolute favourite accommodation! The young couple who own it go above and beyond, they are so kind and thoughtful - from welcome drinks on arrival to dropping us off at restaurants and refusing to accept any money for the journey. The room is lovely, clean, has strong WiFi and AC and a super handy minbar with great snacks. The breakfast is so nice, lots of fresh fruit and traditional Sri Lankan options. Would definitely recommend eating in their restaurant for lunch or dinner too. We ate out at different restaurants a few times in the town and the food was no where near as good.

The safari with Suresh was excellent and good value for a four hour trip. Janith was the perfect host, communicative without being pushy and very attentive to our needs. Breakfast was also very delicious.

The Owners are lovely and really helpful, the Safari was awesome, the rooms clean and nice and the food for Dinner and Breakfast was amazing. Can recommend 10/10, felt Like a place to stay!

Dasun var väldigt mån om oss redan innan vi kom till hotellet. Dessvärre kunde han ej vara på plats när vi kom fram, vilket gjorde oss lite besvikna då vi hade läst mycket bra recensioner om just hans hjälpsamhet på hotellet. Han ordnade så att en god vän till honom var på plats istället för honom och gjorde oss bekväma. Vi bokade även en fantastisk safari via Dasun, och fick vår guide Harsha som var en helt otrolig guide och han lyckades visa alla sorters olika djur i parken.

The Elephant Next-Door i Udawalawe ligger knappt 8 km från Udawalawe nationalpark och erbjuder en rad bekvämligheter, bland annat en trädgård. Room was very nice, everything was beautiful, Janaka is very caring and thoughtful. We also at diner there, the curry was excellent and very good value for money.

Nice view of elephants from balcony. Access to shop for snacks. Delicious food. All around terrific! Recommend to do their safari tour.

It was one of the best stays during our Sri Lanka trip - the property is beautiful, well maintained and very comfortable. We loved the pool area and the fact that we felt surrounded by the nature. Also the rooms were very spacious and tastefully designed. The hotel manager was beyond helpful and personally organized the fixing of my phone screen when it got broken. He also organized a very nice morning safari and a great massage for us for a reasonable price. We loved every minute of our stay at The Countryside Udawalawe and would have wished to spend there more time!
