Really great place to stay in San Jose. The unit is very modern and spotless clean! The view is second to none! Car elevator is cool. Receptionist was very helpful. They kindly let us stay on the rooftop to accept some business calls after the check-out. I also loved the gym and jacuzzi with a view. The check-in did not require a key and was contactless. This is a jewel of a stay!

In addition we got a bigger apartment which was not so warm. It is within a very safe place and with a code for the door, which makes it very easy.

Boasting mountain views, Cabañas San gerardo offers accommodation with a garden and a balcony, around 13 km from Cerro de la Muerte. At 3 km (9600 ft) Elevation, the night was chilly and the morning was fresh. Given our experience with bland and low-variety Costa Rican cooking, Miriam's home cooking was outstanding. The trout filets, the whole trout, the pastas are delectable Cabins are very clean and with heaters. How water at low flow.

Set in San José, the recently renovated 935 Lodge San José offers accommodation 50 km from Poas National Park and 4 km from La Sabana Metropolitan Park. Lovely place!! We booked the 101 Apartment for 1 night and everything was great. The building is very well maintained and beautiful, check-in instructions clear (self-check-in) and we also met the host for payment who was super nice. The location is near a bigger street with lots of kiosks and restaurants. Bed is very comfortable and the hot water shower was functioning well. The 101 apartment has a small kitchen corner with a sink, wine glasses etc but no cooking area so be aware of that (other apartments might have it though). I would definitely stay here again as it was a place we felt very comfortable in in San Jose.

ARANJUEZ LOFTS Santa Ana is located in Santa Ana and offers an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a terrace. It's a beautiful and quiet place and furnished with great taste! Safe, clean and the owners were very kind!! We stayed only for one night, because we had planned ahead, otherwise I definitely would have liked to stay longer!

Boasting a garden, Hospedaje Casa Monge is situated in San Gerardo de Dota, within 17 km of Cerro de la Muerte. Both free WiFi and parking on-site are accessible at the apartment free of charge. This was a beautiful magical place. The best place to see Quetzal is near an avacado tree right on this property. The cabin is right on the river, walking distance to two restaurants with beautiful patios. The drive from Quetzales national park entrance is lots of switchbacks and you must be very careful. Look for the “unicorn lodge” sign on your left coming down the mountain in San Gerardo. “Casa monge” itself isn’t well signed from the main road. I would recommend this place to anyone, it was fantastic! Dirche, the owner, was absolutely lovey and took us out at 5:30 to see the quetzals. I would also recommend the waterfall hike about 2kms down the hill from Casa Monge- a bit treacherous at times but well worth it, 2-3 hrs total!
