I recently spent four wonderful days at Casugria Dutch Residences Malacca. My priority was somewhere safe with a strong connection to Malacca’s rich history, that was also very comfortable. The property is delightful – built in 1810 it exemplifies Colonial Dutch old-world charm, and the guest cabins have every modern comfort. The pool is fantastic, there’s a well-tended garden, and plenty of places where you can just sit in the shade and chill. A wonderful haven to rest and recharge after sight-seeing around fascinating but busy Melacca. Aa a female solo traveller I’m very conscious of security - I felt completely safe at all times. It’s impossible to enter the grounds uninvited as the main gate is always locked and access only given to registered guests. The couple who run it are delightful and are based in the main house, which is surrounded by 4 or 5 guest chalets. Other guests while I was there were a couple from Canada and a French family with 2 children. I count myself an introvert but it was great to have the opportunity to chat with other guests – sharing our travel stories over breakfast and around the pool. My chalet was perfect with a little desk, comfortable seating area, bed and bathroom and excellent air-con. There’s a lot of accommodation in Melacca but you can be confident that those choosing Casugria are like-minded people who value culture, privacy, safety, discretion and courtesy. Well worth paying for as the people you meet as a solo traveller really affect your overall holiday experience. The hosts Sean and Natasha are well-educated, genuine, warm and very experienced. They helped me in all sorts of little ways and their suggestions and recommendations really made a huge difference and enriched my visit enormously. This is light years from the experiences I’ve had in hotel chain accommodation – with both management and guests.

That was perfect. Maria was so nice and gave me very good advice. The location is also very near to the center. Possibility to walk to most of the main attractions. The place is very clean and comfy. I do recommend 100%.

My family had an amazing time at this villa. It was super private and secure, which we loved. The villa itself was really comfy and clean, just like home, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy our stay. We were so pleased with our stay at this villa that we're sure to stay there again in the future.

Doté d'un jardin, l'établissement The Opposite Place est situé à Malacca, à proximité du musée du patrimoine Baba & Nyonya, du musée de la bijouterie chinoise Straits et de la Ménara Taming Sari. Une chambre SUBLIME, très bien décorée, hors du temps, très originale, avec tout le confort qu’on peut souhaiter. Très bien placé dans Malacca, à deux pas du night market de street food, plein de petit restau et café dans le coin, à 5min à pied du centre historique, vraiment idéal ! La propriétaire m’a attendu jusqu’à minuit pour me remettre les clefs, car j’arrivais tard en bus de Singapour, très accueillant et arrangeante !

Location is very very good. Love the rooms. Kids loved the bunk beds! They requested to have the same ones in our home. Very clean. Air con is awesome. Host is very polite.
