Breakfast was good in its options, clean environment and friendly staff. The shower area, which was a walk-in, was a bit strange, but may have been for seniors. The strip across the shower area floor didn't really keep the water in, so I had to use towels to mop up the water. The wastebasket in the bathroom was missing, so I had to get from next to the desk. The soap bar at the sink was extremely small and hard to identify for people with low vision. The beds and linen were comfortable. The room fan was noisy.

The Press Hotel was an amazing stay - one of my favorite hotels I’ve visited so far! Not only does the building have historical significance, but the attention to detail and cleanliness was amazing! The bed was also very comfy, and the location is stellar! So close to all the main attractions of Portland!

Portland is a walkable city. Too many wonderful restaurants for one trip!

We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine.
We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine. We usually stop at the Kittery Trading Post along our drive. In Portland we like to take in historical homes and sites like the Victorian Mansion or the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow home. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in the waterfront area. One of our favorites is the Ri' Ra' where I typically enjoy a Guinness with the fish and chips.

My work in Portland shows me a diverse striving community that is trying to care for its citizens. That diversity is revealed through exploring the shops underneath and around the "Hopeful" sculpture/sign on Forest Ave.

Best seafood ever.
Best seafood ever. Very nice restaurants and bars and excellent, friendly service in all places. Nice little interior or similar shops. Some more or less interesting galleries, interesting Arts Museum. But two full days are enough for visiting downtown Portland.
Lovely hiking trails at about 30 minutes from the town.
Its really all about the location in Portland! The hotel rooms themselves felt a little old, but they were clean and the lobby was really nice. I very much believe that anywhere you stay is going to be similar pricing and you have to pay for valet anywhere on the waterfront, but you might find a more modern hotel for the $400 a night rate if you do a little searching. But really - it was fine for what it is and we were not there to hang out in the hotel anyway.
The front entrance of the hotel was a bit difficult to find. No breakfast or a complimentary snack/drink. The room and walkway had a mold smell. The bedding was a bit dirty. The vending machine was out of order and it appeared that there was only one vending machine. The location was a bit further out of downtown Portland for the price. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was not good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
It’s outside of downtown Portland but quick to reach driving. It felt like when I returned to the hotel, I could just rest and prepare for the next day. It’s next to a recently opened restaurant Stacks that serves breakfast and lunch. The bed was comfortable and the tv could rotate which was nice.
Comfortable hotel in excellent downtown location - only a block from the ferries, walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Room was spacious with comfortable beds and very clean. Nice view of the port. Decent breakfast buffet included in the price.
The location was very good. The old port, The Portland Observatory and the Eastern promenade were all in walking distance from the hotel.
The breakfast was good, big portions although the variety wasn't that big but it was satisfying.
This is an ideal location to walk or bike around all of downtown Portland. It was safe for me to walk at night as a woman, alone, down Market, Commercial streets, etc. I also LOVED the free shuttle service from 3:00 -11:00.
Hotel is ideally located near the Portland Maine Airport and is very clean. Once I arrived, check in was quick and easy despite a visible shortage of staff. I had no issues after my check in. Overall, everything was ok.
This is my favorite hostel I have ever used. Cheery, obliging staff, quirky decor, convenient and immaculate bathrooms, sensible method for secure late-night entry; short walk from downtown and from the waterfront.
Excellent location - walkable to restaurants and bars in downtown Portland. Comfortable room; hotel was updated; hotel bar had spectacular drinks; excellent breakfast that was included.
This is a great location in Portland, and we were able to walk or bike from the hotel without issue. The neighbourhood was great, people were friendly and it felt very safe.
Good location in a quiet area, walking distance to downtown attractions.
Large comfortable room.
Great breakfast cooked to order.
Helpful and friendly host
Very convenient for downtown Portland, nice courtyard with fire pit. Good bar area with restaurant. I liked the complimentary coffee/tea and snack station.
