This place is about 5 to10mins drive from the nearest main road. Seems like a quiet farm area to me. The key is self collection and you are able to park your vehicle on the premise for free. Everything is so comfy here and it is getting real dark during night hence make it a good spot for aurora hunting. Got the necessary facility in the unit as well. We are the sole guests during that night so can't really comment on soundproofing part that we read from other comments. Overall I would say it is a good place to spend your night at Iceland
Midgard Base Camp features a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Hvolsvöllur. A hot tub and a bicycle rental service are available for guests.

Wonderful Hidden Gem of a Hotel and Breakfast was OUTSTANDING
Rooms are quiet and comfortable and well maintained and upgraded.
Shower was a little tight and needs some update to make a little safer for people stepping in and out. A grab bar or better flooring would help.
But overall WELL DONE

Hvolsvöllur is a small town (village?), but you can find restaurants, petrol station, supermarket here, therefore ideal base of excursions -for instance to the Golden Circle (North West) or Vik region (South West).
Nevertheless there is a very special facility, the Lava Centre which much be visited definitely.

The owners were very friendly.
The owners were very friendly. They help us even at midnight. The apartment was big, clean, enough for 6 people. The place was near by the Golden circle, Black beach and other attractions. Definitely recomend it.

The proximity to the ferry for the Westman Islands was the reason we chose this property - it was only 10mins drive from the ferry terminal. Additionally, the property is 1km from Seljalandfoss, meaning you can visit away from the busiest times of day. The cabins were literally on the ring road, making it easy to find but no need to worry about noise. A very good place to stay the night and enjoy all the amazing attractions between Seljanlandfoss and Vik.

The Lava Center is a phenomenal place to stop.
The Lava Center is a phenomenal place to stop. The exhibits are interactive and so well done, all ages will appreciate learning more about Iceland's volcanos.
We heard that there were tours for hiking out of this area, but the weather was way too extreme for us to check that out.
We have travelled around Iceland for a week, stayed in a different hotel every single night and Aurora Lodge Hotel was our favourite one! The staff was super friendly (pozdrowienia dla Pani z recepcji :)), our room was specious and clean, there were even bathrobes and slippers! But the best part was definitely breakfast - absolutely delicious. The scramble eggs they served was - to be honest - the best scrambled eggs I've ever eaten. Highly recommend this hotel.
Even greater than expected, everything was of very high construction quality, very spacious room, also a spacious shower in the private bathroom, giant bed, very practical arrangement of all the things. Felt like a 4 star hotel, except that this place is in the middle of nowhere (which is a very positive thing, everything super quiet and you're close to nature). Good variety of breakfast, flexible check in and check out. Good self adjustable heating.
Everything! Friendly staff, everything was clean and they have a cupboard for your stuff to go which was a good size. The rooms had a key to enter, and the bathrooms and showers were really nice too. The best hostel in Iceland, and honestly probably the best one I’ve ever been to! I ended up coming back the next week unplanned and was happy to stay again. Wish they had locations all over the country haha
The location was great. The property was very nice. A cabin in the south of Iceland is nothing to complain about. The inflated bubble room would've been great if we had better weather at night. Cloud cover kept us from seeing the Northern Lights. You can't control the weather.
The view outside was AMAZING! No complaints. Just nature's beauty at its finest, no matter which direction you looked.
Hotel is in the middle of no-where. Does not look great from outside, however once in the rooms were very comfortable and the shower was fantastic. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with bacon, eggs and beans available along with make your own waffles, toast, etc. no noise could be heard from other rooms. Would recommend.
Really great hotel to stay in the south of island. Unfortunately we’ve only been there for one night. The staff is very friendly and open for any questions. Delicious dinner at the restaurant and a perfect breakfast. The hotel offers a lot of activities like horse riding or hiking tours. Comfortable beds. We didn’t miss anything
The guy at the reception, the young ladies in the bar and restaurant are very friendly, helpful and professional ones.
The hotel has a very big parking place. Even the hotel has an own restaurant, but not too far from the hotel you find other opportunities as well.
The location of the hotel is good for Polar Light hunters. :-)
The Hotel Hvolsvollur was like a nice chain hotel in the US. Our room had a private bathroom and was comfortable, quiet, and clean. Parking was free in the lot. A very nice, included breakfast was served with many choices. The restaurant served dinner also, but there were other restaurant options in the area.
Rental is a full house lost in the Icelandic countryside, surrounded by horses. Beautiful view of Vestmannaeyjar from the house. Very quiet and practical with three bedrooms, a bathroom and a big living room and kitchen. I recommend it :)
The included breakfast was the best we have from all the hotels we stayed in our 10 days road trip around Iceland. The home-made french toast made on the spot was the best I ever tried. Sooo good.
Conveniently close to a petrol station.
An equestrian’s dream property, Skálakot should be on every horse girl’s bucket list. From riding the incredible Icelandic horses through stunning countryside, to the equine decor touches in the hotel, it was perfection.
The view from the hotel was amazing. There is a beautiful mountain behind it.
The towel and sheets were very cool.
The room was little bit small but it was enough for us.
There are two dogs, they were so kind and smart.
Breakfast was plentiful with good choices.
Location was good for our trip to the Highlands and the hotel as very quiet and a good value for the area. Would recommend.
Private, quiet location. Easy in and out. Great views. Fantastic shower pressure. If you like iceland ponies, this is the place for you. Great shampoo/conditioner!
Close to main attractions in the South Iceland, quite and cozy palce, supermarket not far away from the property, nice restaurants was nearby (Valkhalla)
