Everything. Beautifully made and run. Food is fantastic. Petra & Tomas are such amazing & friendly people. Their labour of love is the perfect place to unwind and have fun. The area is not bad. Beside the neighboring village there are mainly resorts and hotels in this area, so not much population and traffic like in the city. Very peaceful for proper restful vacation.
It’s very easy to get around Pingwe, with rent a car. The road to Pingwe is a little bit with holes but they were fixing them around that time. Things to do is visiting Jozani forest and natural aquarium which is very close, where you can see the monkeys and the turtles as well as the mangrove.
Paje is minutes away, where you can have a cold savana on the rooftop.

Hardly anyone had heard of Pingwe in Stone Town, they all thought I meant Pongwe. This is because it seems Pingwe is more of an up and coming area. The beaches are beautiful, it's lovely and quiet, hassle is at a minimum, there is a lovely breeze and the views are fantastic. I highly recommend Pingwe for your next trip to Zanzibar.

It's lovely on that side of the island, but not exactly a swimming beach as too many rocks and sea urchins. Paje, further down is a lovely swimming beach and popular with kite surfers. Sunset Beach, past Pingwe, is a lovely beach for swimming and watching the sunsets at the beach bar!
The resort is located up on a rock with access to the beach downstairs. Staff is genuinely nice, warm, always ready to help. Premises have been recently renovated, are very clean and well maintained. It smells of new and wood. Zanzibari style of furniture. Each room has its own terrace to enjoy sunrises and the ocean. I liked very much their location on Dongwe beach - not far from the “blue lagoon”. The Rock restaurant can be reached by foot in about 40 minutes if walking along the beach on low tides.
This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. All of the staff are extremely warm and friendly, and they provided services that far exceeded our expectations. Jacqueline at the front desk helped us book all of our activities, gardener Jonny took us on a tour of the gardens, the Chef helped us cook the fish we caught ourselves, and the restaurant servers would open fresh coconuts for us... We will definitely return, for the beautiful and captivating sea of Paje, as well as the lovely Hekaya.
Great location of the hotel near Paje and Pongwe! Breakfast and dinner were both delicious and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The bar staff at the beach were super friendly and made us great cocktails each night! We also learnt Swahili language from the restaurant staff which was great to learn the zanzibar local language! Great excursions can be organised through the reception to see Prison Island giant tortoise, Stone Town culture or snorkelling on one of the many paradise beaches.
Wow!!! They overbooked us and because of that gave us an enormous up grade in an Hotel (Matlai) next door. That was so fantastic!!!! Super romantic and just beautiful.
Also they kept in touch with us and arranged a taxi from the airport, booked dinner at the Rock and where always quick in responding. I am very impressed by the way they take care of their customers and would book again with them if I would have an other chance in going to Zanzibar!
Beautiful hotel fully integrated in the environment. Staff if extremely gentle. Great customer service always available to satisfy any request. Some of the facility may be renovated but anyway everything is very clean.
Sellers on the beach disturb during the day. Good that there is a limit they cannot go through so they don't come close sunbeds. Anyway there is hotel security to keep them away.
This place is exceedingly overpriced for a run down and shabby hotel with construction outside your window. For that price there are so many better places in the vicinity. It was a big disappointment. However the staff were very sweet, but the place is due a big refurb if they want to charge what they do, and also need to look at improving the breakfast which was mediocre at best.
The family running the hotel has made a space you feel at home, relaxing, and cozy. The staff is very friendly. The food is great. The place is great to stay with friends and family. The green lush garden near the rooms does give great privacy and at the same time restaurant and pool zones are well connected. Great place to come for dinner from outside as well.
This was a huge property along with their smaller property called Amani Boutique Hotel. Because of their distance from the airport the transportation fees could be a bit higher but this place has it all. From the company that does scuba to all your other tours. Excellent food. Bathrooms could be a better but that’s nothing.
Zanzibar, like Tanzania, has an amazing vibe and people. We have enjoyed every moment there! The Villa was so beautiful, truly like in the photos! Pool was perfect, restaurant bar served delicious food and drinks. Beach is as shown, super close, with white sand, warm water. Everything was as on the photos.
The villa was comfortable and quiet. I had the best view I could've imagined. The restaurant at the hotel was perfect, everything was fresh and cooked with local spices. There were 3 common swimming pools and one private next to my apartment which was wonderful.

A jewel in the middle of nature and colors of Zanzibar!!
The huge rooms finely furnished.
Taste in the choice of colors and spaces, an oasis for those who are looking for peace and tranquility.
Excellent food, friendly staff.
Highly recommended!

The hotel is very serene, with great customer service and friendly employees. The beach and the pool activities were awesome too.
A suprise birthday cake crowned the stay.

Breakfast, bakery, room, bad, privacy, gardener, ocean noice, beach bag from hotel to use. Close The rock restaurant, Baladin hotel, sunset side Jae beach is 15 min by car. Beautiful sunrise walk
Very beautiful environment. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I personally enjoyed the Ngoma Ngoma dance crew so creative. I can not wait for my next holiday in Karafuu-zanzibar!
We have a very lovely stay at Hekaya. Staff is very friendly and helpful and I love that it is a small boutique hotel - it gives some quiet time and space for both of us.
The scenery and look, vibe of the hotel. The staff are very attentive and truly make your staff amazing. I was upgraded which made me stay for an extra 5 days!
