Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomI did not like the beds ufortunately as the mattress made me very uncomfortable , it was good to sit on but sleeping there 2 nights hurt my back as I am tall and of a thinner stature
The property manager James was very prompt at answering any questions or concerns and it felt very secure as every door was key coded electronically however unfortunately it didn’t have suffice storage areas as it only fits a small cabin bag size

MalaysiaGreat to have more bathroom. Guests sharing the room are respectful to not turn on the light to respect other guest resting, but the room is kept dark all the time, would be great if owner install individual light at each bed and curtain for added privacy
Its exactly how it was advertised and described. The location is great. Walking distance from Wilshire/Normandie station. Pretty safe and clean neighborhood. The place itself is clean for a hostel standard. Bathroom and kitchen are always clean and well maintained

James the manager was very helpful to me . I would absolutely recommend 8th and Ardmore as the best dollar value hostel in the greater LA area . Pro tip - the Wilshire/Normandie exit on the D/Purple line is your nearest mass transit point . Bring your own towel .

United StatesThe paid washer machine/dryer connections required quarters for payments. Quarters are hard to get. There was a notice of instructions above the washer machines about how to obtain quarters from vending machine, however, one day last week I tried to do my laundry, tried this method, but only received nickels and dimes. So I had to do my laundry at the coin laundromat around the corner for good. Also, WiFi would go out in the evening up until the next day. Other than the two negatives, the property is really amazing
The location is safe. The grocery store was next door with public transportation in front of it. Staff was friendly.

United StatesI used to stayed here for a couple of times and had no problem with this hostel; however, today when I was leaving, I found one of my belongings was stolen. It was not something very expensive fortunately, but I still felt quite disappointed and even though it is not the fault of the owner, I want to raise concerns of this issue.
Location is good and convenient (in KTown and close to supermarket, metro station and a lot of restaurants). Facilities are good and rather clean, and most people here are friendly including the other tourists and staff.
