Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing
A deceptive, worryingly underwhelming, facade/entrance leads to a fine interior with very friendly, helpful staff, comfortable immaculate rooms, pleasant smallish garden, seating area and 'honesty' bar. An impressive hotel. Great location within easy walk of the waterside areas and bridges across to Porto. We, unfortunately, had to urgently return home and the staff were wonderfully understanding and helpful.

United States of AmericaWe got lucky with street parking in front. But if you must go to off site public parking it would add a bit more inconvenience. Also, the man who was at morning reception was not as nice as the afternoon reception woman.
Great location, beautifully restored historic building. Nice breakfast. The “honor bar” was a nice touch. Very nice staff overall.

United States of AmericaWe were pleased with all aspects of our stay
Property exceeded all our expectations. Rooms were very clean and quiet. The breakfasts were on site and included a wide assortment of healthy and delicious choices. The availability of the self service wine and snacks on an honor system was brilliant. The outdoor terrace area was well kept, attractively landscaped and created a very private place to relax. The property was well located within easy walk to the Villa Nova De Gaia waterfront, shops, and places to sample Portugal’s food, wine, and Port. We were fortunate to have found the Caleway.

Location and staff were amazing. When first getting dropped off we weren’t quite sure - but once inside - wow. It’s a converted building with quaint sitting areas, an honor bar, and a very good breakfast. Our room had a balcony overlooking the court yard and it was so quiet and peaceful! It’s convenient to visiting the Nova side of the river and an easy walk over to Porto. And the staff were friendly and very helpful.

RussiaFor me - nothing
Perfect location, close to all the wineries and cable car and the river. Excellent space, new, stylish, 100% matches pictures, comfortable beds, amenities, bar in the hotel (self-service: pay for what you took). Breakfast is quite modest, but all the basics are covered (and i see it as an advantage, since only here I didnt feel full up to the throat :), but for some people it might be different. Very nice staff. Perfect price-quality ratio

United KingdomThe hotel is absolutely fantastic in so many ways; a complete hidden gem. From the minute you step in it has a feeling of comfort and cleanliness. The reception area is in the lovely old building, with beautiful golden stone. You then walk down a corridor before you suddenly step into a stunning open atrium that connects the old building to the new extension. We stayed in the "superior" room which is in the extension. The rooms are a nice size with a large double bed with good heating for the winter (we stayed in February). The other rooms are in the old building. Our room was on the top floor at the back (Room R) which has a great view of the city skyline (a bit of a bonus). The breakfast was served in a room in the older part of the building; all beautifully restored and with a view of the outside space (I forgot to say it has an excellent open space/garden). The breakfast is plentiful and varied, with hot food, cereal, cold cuts, toast and pastries (the people complaining about the breakfast must have only eaten one thing their whole trip!). The staff were also very helpful, making us Latte coffee (not put out so remember to ask!!!). The rooms don't come with a kettle, but if you ask you get one! (we did) Same with anything else I imagine. Only one word of warning; don't be put off by the drive up to the hotel. The other buildings on the road can look like a legacy of the 70s, but if you look closely you'll see everything is clean and some of those buildings are boutique shops and restaurants. We reckon that this is because the hotel is in one of the the up-and-coming locations. AND, having walked all over the city, we reckoned that this location was the best; not so tourist crowded but plenty of restaurants. And as I said, once you step into the building you are in a completely different place!

Location is excellent and the hotel is charming. Who would know that hidden behind a small heritage frontage, one would find a luxury modern hotel. Nice breakfast but could maybe vary a little each day.
