The hotel is great but it's not perfect. My main issue with it is that the wifi is unreliable. Sometimes it's really fast, sometimes it's unusable. I have to work from my computer and found myself having to hotspot my computer often due to the unreliable wifi. Another point of improvement is that a lot of the staff doesn't really speak English. Luckily I can speak a bit of Indonesian so it wasn't a big deal, but if you don't speak Indonesian you might have a tough time talking to some of the customer-facing staff. Another suggestion is to train the restaurant staff to look at the tables more often. Many times I sat down at the restaurant and no one noticed I was there so I had to go up to ask for a menu. Same whenever I wanted to ask for a drink or something else during my meal - I found myself getting up to order way too often. The restaurant staff should be trained to look at the people sitting down to see if they need anything. The room decor, while comfortable and good quality, is quite outdated and seems to date back to the 80s. Personally I don't mind this as much and enjoy the "classic" look, but if you're looking for modernity you won't find it here. These are just my suggestions for improvement. Overall I still really like the hotel and will stay here again.

This is my preferred hotel in Yogyakarta and I think it's the best value for your money in the city. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the restaurant food is great, and the staff are nice.

Breakfast, during Ramadan, was a bit hit and miss. Coffee was on - or not - and frequently changed positions in the dining area. No useful napkins, which you had to hunt for. The service of alcohol at the poolside bar was problematic - payment was cash only (change had to be sought from front desk) and there were occasionally problems keeping track of exactly what had been consumed. And please spare us the virtue signalling of the "Save the Earth Hour" with notice only given that day.

Location was perfect for my purposes. Gym was actually a real gym, not a "pretend" gym. Pool was good. Poolside bar was good. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Room facilities were a bit dated - but the toilets flushed, the lights worked, cable TV was on offer and the aircon cooled. Wifi was more than adequate. Room had a (small) safety box. Minor room defects were quickly fixed. No real cause for complaint.

The bathroom old but ok, but the bathtub not so nice. One cannot open the windows and fresh air only by aircon. The aircon is not adjustable , we tried two rooms. It is much too could. Adjust the degrees does not help. So you have to turn on and off all the time.

The friendliness of staff especially front desk. They could not be more helpful! The Breakfast was outstanding, we never had a better one and we travel a lot. The Pool very clean and sunbeds and chairs with shade.

I didn't want to leave!

From the moment I arrived, I felt--yes, felt--I made the right choice booking my stay at this heritage hotel. The check in was so pleasant and relaxing, the breakfast is amazing, the gym is a legit real gym, and the pool... the pool is a lake! A bonus is the neighborhood has many cafes and restaurants within a few minutes walk.

It's a heritage hotel. The bathroom fittings are vintage. We enjoyed it. Not for the fussy ones.

Excellent place. We had a wonderful time. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. We gave away our clothes for laundry by mistake, even though we had to leave early morning at 7am. When we informed the staff at 11pm the previous night, they got our clothes washed and neatly pressed within 30 minutes. Top class service!

My bedsheet and pillow cover have unpleasant smell. But very quickly the service staff changed the whole linen to a new one with no extra charges. Efficient. I just hope that they could pay extra attention to cleanliness of bed linen coz everything about the hotel was making me very happy except this one.
