Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelI stayed here for three nights in late May 2024. This is a family-run business, with the owner and his son arriving daily around midday. The rest of the time, there is no staff present, but the place is spotless thanks to a daily cleaning lady. The common area is nicely decorated, though it lacks natural light. Guests come from diverse backgrounds; I met people from Argentina, Chile, France, Morocco, and many other places. The hostel has around 20 beds, three bathroom stalls, and four showers. Despite this, I never had to wait for a shower or toilet. Note that the shower stalls are in a single unisex room, separated by curtains. The spacious kitchen was particularly comfortable for cooking. My favorite attraction in the city was climbing the hill SRD, which is only a 10-15 minute walk from the hostel to the trail's start. The summit offers a stunning 360-degree view of the city, sea, and the surrounding green countryside and rolling hills. You can also take the Fenicular for about 15 euros each way. I came to Dubrovnik looking for a place to settle as a remote worker, but found it too small for my needs. I heard it’s hard to find coffee shops that welcome remote workers for extended periods, though I didn’t investigate this personally. Instead, I improvised a workspace in my bedroom, which was empty during the day and filled with beautiful natural light, making it a pleasant place to work.

MexicoThe bathrooms sometimes were a little dirty and the shower room was humid as there were no windows there. But nothing serious and the other services make it up for that.
The bed was very comfortable and we had plenty of space in the room. The personnel was very friendly and nice :) The location is perfect, 20 minutes walk to the old town, 5 min from an amazing beach and the bus stop is right outside the hostel.

United StatesI didn't like being in the top bunk - just difficult to climb the metal ladder in bare feet. There were some mosquitos in the room, but the windows needed to be open because it was quite warm. This also meant there was quite a bit of traffic noise. The shared shower room works okay, but there need to be more shelves or hooks nearby, since you have to get dressed in the stall if you want privacy.
Great location and value for money. I appreciated the big locker, the kitchen, and the friendly people there - also the free parking right in front. The sitting area is a great place to hang out and chat with people. Easy bus ride to the old city one direction and to the port on the other.

Contactless check in was easy, host was responsive. Standard hostel so facilities were reflected in the price. Nice staff.

UkraineNice basic hostel with good location between old city and bus station (both ways ~30 min walking). Most advantage is you don't need up/down dozens of stairs every time. Strong wifi, kitchen, fridge available. A bit confusing shower system, when bathroom occupied by few girls it's definitely not possible to use it.

SwitzerlandI added it here, even if it wasn't negatively for my stay, but bunkbeds like this, you don't like anybody upstairs, because it would feel like an earthquake happened. Normally, on the web for dormitories,I'll check first the strength of the Bunks. So this simple ironconstruction I normally avoid.
For the price a nice place for one or more days.
