Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThank you to the team at The Great House for making our stay so special. Our room was beautiful - super comfy with lovely en-suite. Our meal was exceptional and breakfast delicious. Lavenham is perfect for a w/end break.

United KingdomRoom 4 seemed a little small, it was on the 2nd day we worked out the light switches and that there was a blind for the window. Had to shower kneeling in bath. Could be down to us rather than the hotel.
located just off the main street, recently refurbished but still kept original features. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you. The breakfasts were certainly generous.

United KingdomFor a 5-star hotel, I was expecting a bit more concerning the bedroom (room 5). It was very small and I believe could improve with a better layout... Disappointed at no shower, I missed this when I booked. Other than that all was good.
All members of the hotel staff were very good and their customer service skills were fantastic. All deserve a drink from the bar on the management.

United KingdomI would shoot the interior designer. Definitely not to my taste. There’s so much you can do with such a beautiful building. Sadly, what they have done, I don’t feel it works. The dinning and bar area just lack atmosphere.
The owners are lovely and make a real effort to make you feel at home. And the beds are fantastic!!!! Dinner was enjoyable and breakfast was excellent.

United KingdomIt is odd that they have a curfew in 2022 - apparently the door had been left open by a previous guest and the bar robbed, I would suggest they find away of securing the bar so that guests can come in after 11pm.
The staff were so lovely - I was stung by a wasp not long after arriving and under my eye, the staff were really kind, caring and attentive. The restaurant is an incredible experience with some of the best wine pairings I have experienced on a tasting menu

United KingdomTwo very small problems, we were in Boheme, in the roof, so getting to the far side of the bed was a bit low. There are not enough sockets in the room for charging phones etc
It is a very beautiful old building, very tasteful in decoration

United KingdomThe initial room (Boheme) was very cramped and the en-suite bathroom lacked a proper standing shower. Hence we upgraded the room locally at extra cost for the 2nd and 3rd night. We also found that the booking.com price excluded breakfast, whereas booking direct with the hotel would have included breakfast. The whole pricing regime for breakfast was disappointing and not really needed for such a beautiful hotel. Finally the hotel restaurant was shut every evening during our stay, which for summer time was a great shame.
Beautiful location, very helpful staff and easy (free) public parking.

United KingdomIf I'd been hungrier at breakfast to try something cooked & if I'd eaten dinner there the previous evening. Sad I missed out but I'll be back.
I cried when I saw my beautiful attic room. Tears of joy. It was perfect for a solo traveller. Someone wrote it was like a tent with the beautiful beams in the eaves of the roof. I loved the decor throughout, everything pristine. My cosy bed. The welcome complimentary sherry & fresh fruit. Everything I needed for my stay. The luxury toiletries in the bathroom an extra nice touch. Fluffy towels, lovely hot water for my bath even dressing gown & flipflops to exclusively use but as only there one night, I couldn't justify one night's wear. The breakfast! Couldn't face another cooked breakfasts but felt I should have something to justify a one night's stay as such a wonderful place. Opted for the home made granola with yoghurt, honey and fresh fruit. Didn't fancy toast so waitress suggested some french bread. Well! The granola was perfect as for the honey infused foamed yoghurt - it was amazing! They have a machine that foams it specially waitress told me! Everything was perfection. Loved the tableware. I realised I was into fine dining here but already booked a table the night before on recommendation but I will return as soon as possible & eat at this first class French restaurant.
