    A fantastic, traditional British hotel!

The television in our room was tiny! The room arrangement, with sofa next to the TV and table and chairs opposite the TV (at the end of the bed) meant the sofa couldn’t be used to watch the telly. In addition, the pillows were quite hard and flat so couldn’t prop one up easily and the chairs were in the way. We were staying one night, so this did not matter. However, this room would be excellent for a longer stay so a swap between the sofa and table and chairs would be a good move. The communal areas are in dire need of decoration but it doesn’t really matter. It adds to the traditional ambience, somewhat!

I loved the Elstead Hotel! It is a great, traditional British seaside hotel with friendly staff, a huge and well-appointed room (214) and a tasty breakfast. The room had a fridge, a sofa, a table and chairs, a desk and a large wardrobe. The bathroom was dated but really good quality and clean. The hospitality tray had decaf coffee and little tea pots. There was an iron and board as well as the ubiquitous trouser press. With a kitchenette, the room would have been a studio flat to live in! And the big, fluffy towels were a touch of luxury. Breakfast was just right, in my view. There were limited options but this meant what there was, was done very well, with no faff. The cooked breakfast was tasty and the cereal choice was extensive.

Shower was very hard to switch on/off.

Close to Rail station to walk, easy to walk to venture nearby or taxi. Comfy spacious room and had been upgraded. Good comes before hand, helpful staff. As no restaurant they provided leaflets of places to eat with personal tips of favourites. Has pool area but didn’t get time to use.

SAD THAT IT IS NOW BEING SOLD OF TO BE A BLOCK OF FLATS, BUT STILL IN OPERATION RIGHT NOW, BUT SOME AREAS NEED ATTAENTION. BUT I'M AFRAID, ITS LIKE MANY PLACES IN THE HOSPITALTY INDUSTRIE, COVED HAS TAKEN ITS TOLL I'M AFRAID AND THERE IS NOT THE MONEY AROUND TO SAVE IT. BUT GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE STAFF, IN THE FUTURE.

THE STAFF WERE VERY GOOD AND HELPFUL, WE HAD A COUPLE OF ISSUES, WHICH WERE DEALT WITH PROMPTLY, WHICH IS ALL YOU ASK. NOT SURE WHEN THE PLACE IS SHUTTING DOWN OF YET, BUT IF IT'S STILL OPEN, WHEN WE ARE THAT WAY AGAIN, WE WILL BOOK HERE.

Unfortunately, the hotel decor was looking slightly tired, however this didn't affect my stay. I was still happy with everything.

I only stayed overnight and enjoyed staying there, very clean and comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I was very pleased with the cost of my stay which was fantastic value and included a lovely breakfast. They have an indoor swimming pool but unfortunately forgot my swimmers (shame). Good car parking. Would thoroughly recommend

Very very very creaky floorboards throughout the hotel, and there was a disconcerting drop when you step in the lift. No food available in the hotel in the evening but that is not a problem because as I wrote you can buy something at the shops nearby or order some food and eat it in the room. The shower pressure in the room wasn't very good and we discovered why, the flexible hose was damaged. There was a leak coming from the bath screen due the rubber shower door seal it was broken. The space between the toilet and the shower was minimum, making hard to wipe your bottom after doing a number two.

Very good location, free parking (do not park under a tree if you don't want your car to be spoiled and filthy by the birds), staff very kindness and welcoming. The room was nice, decent size, tidy, and clean. Room temperature was perfect. Room provided with iron and ironing table. Free coffee and tea with a kettle ready to be used. You can have a take away and the staff will provided you with plates and cutlery in case is needed. Decoration is not up to date but it is very functional, and the bed is comfortable. Free access to the pool an sauna that we didn't used it.

In need of some tlc but it’s being converted into flats soon so that’s why no work has been done which is a shame. One member of staff appeared a bit grumpy! Otherwise no complaints

We’ve stayed here a couple of times before and we were pleased to see on arrival it still has the same charm about it. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the room, very comfortable. Breakfast was perhaps a little on the basic side, but only £10 p/p which we felt was a fair price. Five min walk to the station and 20mins or so to the pier. Love the fact it has a pool, although we’ve yet to use it (there’s always next time!).
