Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI believe this is a general problem in Bordeaux as this smell followed us everywhere, but tap water smells badly. If you do not open windows - the whole room is stinky :( The problem with open windows is that it is located on the rail station and it is extremely noisy.
Location and value for money is really good.

United KingdomTaxi driver dropped us off at door to restaurant which was closed being a Saturday. We had to find our way around and down, carrying our suitcases. In 30 degree heat. It wasn't well signposted. If it had been, taxi would have dropped us off in a more convenient access point. We are elderly so it mattered for us.
The staff were outstanding in helping us to get most out of our 1 night in Bordeaux

United KingdomNo shower curtain and bath tub and wash basin were basically in the room without any divider or wall. So only suitable for people who know each other well. (However the toilet was thankfully in a separate little room with door.) One of the lifts didn't seem to work. The area is a bit dead and not very nice but then it's not far from the station.
Nice ambience. Record player in the room and classical music records which we enjoyed listening to. Good restaurant with yummy food. Good breakfast. It's quite close to the station (walking distance). Clean and modern. Friendly staff.

AustraliaThe size of original room was inadequate. They did change it for us to a bigger one. The position was next to railway lines so was woken very early. No fridge in room. They locked the top door so had to walk a lot of steps up and down into the foyer. Long walk to tram.
Good to have a tea coffee bar on the floor.

United KingdomI am only 5 ft 11 inches but there was no way I could sit to read or watch TV. The narrow shelf cracked the back of my head. This would prevent me ever coming again. Needs to be sorted.. Shelf should be down the side and decent cushions provided for sitting up in bed
Rooftop bar was nice touch though a bit windy. Maybe fill in openings up to waist height

United KingdomTo some extent, minimalism taken too far. For example, polished concrete speckled floor in room- no soft floor covering at all in room. No separate place to sit in room off the floor apart from the bed - there was an upholstered backrest strip to the right side of the bed where it met the wall shelving unit. Separate toilet and shower. Some may see this as an advantage.
Great location.

Smart, clean, conveniently located hotel in Bordeaux. Staff very friendly and helpful. We have checked in late and the hotel restaurant no longer served food. The waiter managed to get us an “off” menu dish after speaking to the kitchen staff, which has made all the difference.

Very modern and clean. Easy check in and check out. The location was much better than we had expected - although it is far from the city center, the surroundings seemed safe and even ok to walk at night.

United KingdomThe only negative point is that the room wasn’t soundproofed. I had view on the train tracks and despite the double glazed windows, it was quite noisy. So if you want a quiet stay, I guess you can ask for a room opposite the train tracks.
The staff was great and really polite to start. The room was small but very cosy with a great attention to details, I really loved it! I really appreciated that kettle and coffee machine was available 24/7 (however, the coffee machine wasn’t working that day…) It is also very well located (only 5/10 minutes walking from the train station).

FranceThe television. It’s was difficult connecting our phone to the tv to project some series. The main entrance near the restaurant was closed on the day of our departure, so it was quite inconvenient to go down to the reception to exit the building.
The breakfast was well balanced. It was located in an ideal spot next to the train station.

United KingdomThe property was a bit far out of the main part of town so was either a bit of a walk in or an Uber. The pool area needed some work to be a little more inviting.
The property had a great vibe about it. Very close to the train station which is great if you’re coming, leaving by train.
